  • Noticed the pit, but how ya gonna say somthing beyond a comment ? LOL

  • Great videos. Can you tell me what the item at the bottom of the oven is, visible at 1:14 ? Looks like just what I need to spread the heat and avoid burning.

    Keep on cookin'

  • @chipfire That's a diffuser for a gas range. You can find them a dollar stores.

  • i used yellow cake mix and it was good but the canned peaches were a little sweet for my taste. Next time i will use fresh peaches or "lite" canned peaches with less sugar.

    It was really easy.

  • @alanmcmichael

or u could save yourself the $ and get normal tin and wash off the syrup and add water

  • We just got a used camping trailer and want to get out and start camping again. Dutch oven cooking looks wonderful. I live in Houston and want to learn how to cook in a DO. Do they have any classes at any of the Texas State Parks?

  • @gigi4u5 We sure do. For a list of upcoming classes, visit texasstatepark(dot)org, click on Featured Events and select Cooking. While you're on the Texas state parks website, you might also want to check out our Texas Outdoor Family workshops which feature outdoor cooking classes. Another good resource is the Lone Star Dutch Oven Society.

  • @gigi4u5 There are several Dutch Oven Cooking Groups in Houston. In NW Houston is the Saltgrass Chapter

Anne Ackel & Sheree Horton are the Co-Advisors. They can be contacted at (281) 668-8254

  • Sure looks good.I will get my dutch oven out an try it the next time we go camping.Hope mine turns out as good as your's looked.

  • I loved this video!! I'm snaggin it for my blog ;-) Having just videoed two dutch oven meals in the making last week, I know how tricky that can be. One secret I learned is start early enough in the day so that you can video the finished product. Anyhow great job. Come on over and subscribe to my new blog about Dutch oven cooking called woodenbrownies.

  • OK, I'm a believer. Time to try and make up some of these myself. This will be my first attempt at DO cooking.

  • @quackersnacker glad to see a comment so recent.. Some of the Dutch oven stuff is older. Also glad you are going to get hooked on Dutch Oven cooking! Come see my new blog dedicated to the topic at woodenbrownies.

  • I thought that was a really nice set of videos too. Thanks!

  • anyone else notice that he left a peach pit in the cobbler?

  • It looks sooo good! And I bet it taste even better!

    John
