If I understood correctly, Toki Pona doesn't have a /d/. So, you are טני Tanny. My name, איתי Itai, contains a diphthong ([aɪ̯]), which also apparently doesn't exist. How would I tokize my name?

thankyou to everyone who has left a comment concerning my question on toki pona. I now understand what toki pona is and maybe in the future i will learn it.
Hi, i've just started learning TP. Can I ask about your pronouciation? I hear it is like the standard European pronouciation (Italian/Finnish for example). I noticed some of your vowels where quite English sounding. For example, o and i.
why do people learn this? why doesn't everyone just learn esperanto.... then loads of people would speak the same language and become more of an internation language
i think because TP is very different and with different use. Is possible to learn (or just something to begin) in one week, remember, just 120 wors. "The easiest language", not the best. I think TP is easy like the colors and you can use it like an artist.
You're right, the correct expression is sina pilin seme. ;-)
But really when I converse in the language, I find myself saying sina pona ala pona. I find it less ambiguous considering pilin can also mean think and whatnot.
a. mi pilin e ni: mi toki pona e nimi ale lon sitelen tawa mi. mi sona e ni: kalama wawa li lon ala insa li lon ala pini. taso mi tan ma Mewika li pali e ike. :D
Damn, this language hit my interes like a train!
Its very cool to learn!

@Boaz7 אהלאן. זה נכון שאין לטוקי פונה דיפטונגים, אז לכאורה שמך יהיה "יאן איטאיי," אבל על פי דקדוק השפה ההברות "טי" ו "יאי" אסורות, לכן שמך יהיה:

are there actually whole countries that speak Toki Pona Natively? (sp?)
Lambocoon 2 years ago
@Lambocoon
No, it's a conlang (constructed language). It doesn't even have many speakers, and even less fluent ones.
It was built by a person, it's not a natural language.
raydredX 2 years ago
i didn't think so :P

Which way is correct?

Ah, sorry. The vowel "i" sounds fine. I have no idea why I thought you were saying it the other way.

I speak Esperanto. I'm learning toki pona for fun, really.
thisusernameistaken2 2 years ago
@liamiveskeeler
Because.
raydredX 2 years ago
Actually, Toki Pona supports Esperanto in its way. Most major Toki Pona sites are trilingual (English/TP/Esperanto).
Besides, they're hardly competitors. Toki Pona isn't going to become an interlanguage any time soon. It's an art project. And it's fun.
Telumel 1 year ago
@liamiveskeeler I don't think Toki Pona is really intended to be an international language. Is it?

Also, in forming compound words, you could use different tones or stresses...
I think I should write this down :D
guugolpl0x 3 years ago 3
Just a thought: I think you should separate consecutive vowels with glottal stops.
guugolpl0x 3 years ago
I think it improves ease of pronunciation without slurring. Easier to go fast.
Or you could use 'h' instead of a glottal stop.
guugolpl0x 3 years ago
ona li jo e monsi pona mute = she has many nice asses.
You want "monsi pi pona mute" or simply "monsi pona".

I am not so sure about the : sina pona ala pona.
well yes it works, but isn't more logical to say : sina pili seme ? wich means : You Feeling What ?
narfee 3 years ago
You're right, the correct expression is sina pilin seme. ;-)
But really when I converse in the language, I find myself saying sina pona ala pona. I find it less ambiguous considering pilin can also mean think and whatnot.
