I am writing several storylines for prequels and a sequel to this show, the prequels will be the stories of each character and how they became what they were in the show, Ahiru before the series was really a high school student cursed by a wizard to be a duck until somebody could love a duck as a bird. Her real name before the story is... hahahaha you'll have to wait and read my story to find that out!

Oh.My.God. This is my favorite part of Princess Tutu PERIOD. Its so beautiful and perfect. The english dub of this whole scene (and the whole anime,in general) is fantastic :). I kind of like how Fakir said that no one wants the story to end,like no one wanted this anime to end.

@FuujinLovesHim To be clear, I don't hate this anime, I love it. I just think that compared to the japanese version, the english voice actors and translation are of less quality. I make a big deal out of ahiru's voice, because I don't think it suits ahiru's caracter very well and I find that dissapointing. I honestly think that Ahiru's voice in English isn't that bad, It kills me that they mispronounce names and they call her 'Duck' instead of Ahiru, even though that /IS/ what her name means... I understand why people are all like, "WHAT?! DUCK?!" And I mean I get it. It sounds better as Ahiru for our tongues, but they're right. I've just thought that while watching the dub on youtube. You could watch them all in English.
Ahuir is a pretty name . . . IN ENGLISH, if you don’t know what you’re talking about. In Japanese it’s ugly, weird and obvious - like Duck. The name fits so get used to it! Besides if you're trying to make a "couple name" Ahuir and Fakir don't work-cause the last part's the same but Duck and Fakir do work. You get Duckir-yeah! (Though I admit it does kind of sound like a fruity beverage). Oh and I agree these two are PERFECT! Like more perfect than all other perfect TV/Movie/Book couples-EVER!
I don't see while people have such a problem with Ahiru being changed to Duck, when you translate Ahiru into english it literally means "domestic duck" so it wouldn't be considered a "pretty" name in Japan....I think its good that the english dub is changed because it comes across the same as it would in Japan :)

@TheGnusLunchbox I totally agree with you! She isn't supposed to have a pretty name - it's supposed to be like a fairy tale where an animal is named the ANIMAL. Are people going to complain that "Mr. Cat" wasn't kept as Neko-san/Neko-sensei?? I mean, come on. This is supposed to be an English translation and since the story doesn't take place in Japan, it actually works to use English (a mostly Germanic language!) Jeeesh! Sorry for the rant :)

@Crystilwyn They did that because it's supposed to be "Fakir." Fakia was what the Japanese said because they don't have an "r" ending in their language. The person who made the anime intended his name to be "Fakir" but things were lost or changed in the translation. That's why the english version chose to change it to Fakir.
@Rathdrgnknight Yeah I know that...but if you actually look up the correct pronunciation of the name the Japanese dubbing was correct and the english dubbing was wrong. The name is Arabic and it's correctly pronunced as "fakia" not "fakir" even though it's spelled Fakir. Check it and see if I'm wrong.
The girl who did Honey from Ouran Highschool Host club did Ahiru in Princess Tutu and I also heard that if the make a english dub for mermaid melody she will be Luchia

By the way, I like the Japanese version better than the English dub because the En. ver. makes it feel like a cheesy romance drama XD Whereas the Japanese version is more realistic. But that's just my opinion.

I understand why people are all like, "WHAT?! DUCK?!" And I mean I get it. It sounds better as Ahiru for our tongues, but they're right. It literally translates to duck and calling her Ahiru takes away from that. Anyway, I know this has nothing to do with this video, but isn't Rue's name pronounced like Ru-eh? I've just thought that while watching the dub on youtube. You could watch them all in English.

Ahuir is a pretty name . . . IN ENGLISH, if you don’t know what you’re talking about. In Japanese it’s ugly, weird and obvious - like Duck. The name fits so get used to it! Besides if you're trying to make a "couple name" Ahuir and Fakir don't work-cause the last part's the same but Duck and Fakir do work. You get Duckir-yeah! (Though I admit it does kind of sound like a fruity beverage). Oh and I agree these two are PERFECT! Like more perfect than all other perfect TV/Movie/Book couples-EVER!

I don't see while people have such a problem with Ahiru being changed to Duck, when you translate Ahiru into english it literally means "domestic duck" so it wouldn't be considered a "pretty" name in Japan....I think its good that the english dub is changed because it comes across the same as it would in Japan :)
Oh and this is my favourite part of the anime :) soooo cute

@TheGnusLunchbox I totally agree with you! She isn't supposed to have a pretty name - it's supposed to be like a fairy tale where an animal is named the ANIMAL. Are people going to complain that "Mr. Cat" wasn't kept as Neko-san/Neko-sensei?? I mean, come on. This is supposed to be an English translation and since the story doesn't take place in Japan, it actually works to use English (a mostly Germanic language!) Jeeesh! Sorry for the rant :)

@TheGnusLunchbox It does make sense when you think about. It just take some getting used to if you hear the Japanese version first. The first time I watched the sub was like 3 years ago? Now I'm totally okay with the dub :p

Duck...it's cute in English, pretty in Japanese. Either way, there's something awkward about it if you know what it means.
Also, "Fakia" sounds like "Fuck yeah"...so, I like the way they pronounce it in English.

Did anyone cry at this scene? Or is it just me -_- I found it so cute and romantic and I LOVE FAKIR'S VOICE! Just couldn't contrain my emotions cause I knew Ahiru/Duck was going to be a duck again and I hated that : ( Should have kept her as a girl! <3

They pronounced Fakir's name incorrectly in the English Dubbing...it's actually pronounced "Fakia"

@Crystilwyn They did that because it's supposed to be "Fakir." Fakia was what the Japanese said because they don't have an "r" ending in their language. The person who made the anime intended his name to be "Fakir" but things were lost or changed in the translation. That's why the english version chose to change it to Fakir.

@Rathdrgnknight Yeah I know that...but if you actually look up the correct pronunciation of the name the Japanese dubbing was correct and the english dubbing was wrong. The name is Arabic and it's correctly pronunced as "fakia" not "fakir" even though it's spelled Fakir. Check it and see if I'm wrong.

The girl who did Honey from Ouran Highschool Host club did Ahiru in Princess Tutu and I also heard that if the make a english dub for mermaid melody she will be Luchia

By the way, I like the Japanese version better than the English dub because the En. ver. makes it feel like a cheesy romance drama XD Whereas the Japanese version is more realistic. But that's just my opinion.

Great dub :) At first I was a little puzzled as to why they called her "Duck" [Yes, I know in japanese "ahiru" means "duck"] and kept everyone else's names the same. I realized tho, that "Ahiru" in Japan probably sounds just as weird as "Duck" does to us, so it IS appropriate...
