That amp has a musical character of course depending on the player that brings it out. Seems like a logical purchase considering other manufacturers like Blackstar etc are a bit more expensive. The other Kustom amp stuff is cool too like the Coupe.
i just bought this amp 350$ cdn from a music store. it was sitting in the back room collecting dust and i picked it up at cost!! this is an awesome amp for the price,and oh so versatile!!! you my friend, are doing it justice! I might actually go buy the other one that they have and run a clean-dirty setup keep on rocking!!
Something doesn't sound stock in this video. Did you change out the tubes and if so what did you change them to? Or did you swap out the speaker? I have played one of the these amps before and it didn't sound this good,. Your saturation sounds too smooth to sound like the stock tubes to me.
@zdoering Hi zdoering. When i demoed the amp in the store, they just let me try the amp, they are stock tubes (el34's) and a stock speaker which is a KEI speaker. The cable i used straight is a Lava clear connect straight up and the guitar was a Caparison Dellinger 7FX guitar (with stock pickups).

The defender has a very good sound. Your problem with bad sound in the hands of the curves.
You just do not know how to rebuild a sound.

Defender or HV 65? I like the HV65 features better, is there too much difference in the sound?

Defender is all tube, whereas HV 65 is only a hybrid (half tube/half solid state)
I have the HV 65 however, and the tone is fantastic for a hybrid amp
of course the Defender is more pricey but it's all worth it
