I live in a "wealthy" part of California. After 27 years of marriage and putting two wonderful kids through University my wife and I called it quits in an amenable way (6 years ago). Our combined income was never high (about $75K) but we did OK. After selling our home (neither of us could afford to keep it) we split our assets and started life over. I live VERY frugal and never eat in restaraunts or go to movies, etc. I eat a lot of pasta and beans. Even on $45K a year I live check to check.

Continued- I know couples with kids who both work and are deep in debt, living in a relative's remodeled Garage. They work hard and full time. They don't use drugs. This "rat race" we call American Life is maddening. Depression and Suicide stalk Americans and I think that financial stress is THE leading cause. I've lived a good Christian life and have never been unemployed. I have 2 degrees and still live one month at a time. I don't have the answers but something is terribly wrong...

@randy109 Well, do not let bankers take too much power on money. They can print money out of thin air. They gain more power by diluting your money by inflation. Money is supposed to be a tool to help the economy and not the inverse. Sooner or later, bankers will lose power on money because people will revolt. Hence, why do not people start using a new currency between citizens? BTW, start with "it is criminal and illegal to use compound interest in money." Check "money as debt." Good luck!!!

Reality.... there are .0125 % of Americans families homeless this year! that is 100,000 families. But still only .0125 % . If a child of three would yell in a crowed street of 400 people would you hear him? Thats what it is like! Homeless people need your voice!!! They need someone to hear them in the crowd. They need you They need me they need us all!

I try to give but the reality is homeless need a new society. Where they have equil opportunity and can uplift themselves. Our society of today makes it near to impossible to escape homelessness.

Many times, I have been close to absolute homelessness. It is such a serious problems as Hollywood camps it up with products and lifestyle status. The problem is getting worse. How many people have to die to say, hey, we should create a new state of homeless people and create a home/economy.

I honestly think that mose people don't understand the full concept of homelessness. Say, it will not happen to me etc. Did you know how serious a problem it is and how it is a downward spiral on so many levels. I could face it at any time and I am Australian. I have faced it once before. Does it have to be this way?

Homelessness? Why? These people DON'T AND CAN'T GET DECENT JOBS! Now, what should we do? First, STOP IMMIGRATION! "Oh, but we need immigrants because we have a shortage of workers!" Bull! We have millions of people willing to do any kind of work. Second, BRING BACK PUBLIC HOUSING! Hey, I know those buildings are seen as ugly, but at least it gave people a roof over their head. We could save money by building more, plain units, instead of these "mixed income" neighborhoods that just ruin places.
