  • Holy fuck bro.

This makes me want to learn snare drum better, so many damn things you can incorporate snare techniques into set playing.

    Nicely done :D

  • Left hand gravity blast with crossing right hand?? just a suggestion...

  • Haha funny!! :D like it a lot dude! Nice GB's!

  • fuckin awesome. that sweet beat u made at that one part at like 1:00 or something was awesome. nice dude!!!

  • yeah ! you tha bomb!!! hope I can learn this!

  • :O...amazing!

  • the beat that started at 0:42 was awesome, the accidental shot you did on the octoban or whatever it was made it sound even better man.

  • wow that was awsome

  • I like the beat that started at 1:03

  • 1:00 one of the sickest beats ive ever heard

  • wow i play guitar but i have so much fucking respect for drummers, the shit you's can do is incredible lol.

  • Agreed

  • my heads are so loose, and my stand is so wobbly, i'd have to replace everything but the shell lol

  • What kind of snare would you recommend for this kind of stuff in death metal?

  • in this video, and when i played with a death metal group, i used a piccolo snare, for the snap and tightness it had. I now use a Tama Warlord which has all that with some body to it also. My personal recommendation would be anything that isn't too fat sounding, since the clarity needs to be there. Something crisp. Altho if you tune-up pretty much any snare you should get some good results. thanks for checking this stuff out man.

  • the thing is jeff does some cool shit with it. its not plain he uses alot of creativty

  • with all due respect these techniques are not anything brand new They have been around since the 80s ive been using it since 93 great job though... they are finally making it mainstream..

  • yep, just carrying on the tradition.

  • im workin on my gravity rolls, but it doesnt seem I can get my snare tight enough.... it always resinates, and doesnt sound clean.

  • have you tried a ZeroRing, or a MoonGel Pad (i have one beneath the Evens label on here)? The other question would be about tuning. Piccolo snare or not? If it's tuned up and still resonates, take the top head off and unscrew the throwoff. If its the same as the snare's I've worked on in the past, there's another screw behind a rubber or plastic guard. Make sure that screw is tightened and then reattach everything. Tune the heads again and that should solve the problem. Thanks for the comments!

  • @AEdrums just realized i misspelled "Evans" haha whoops.

  • awesome. i am trying to teach myself this technique (using marching sticks) and it's pretty rough, but definitely doable.

  • Great! U really turned my gravityroll-exitment up! XD

  • now thats fucking bad ass

  • i dig the ahead 5A's

  • cool. thats not what i use in the videos, not sure if thats what you meant. This was done with GrindStix 5A's. "To each his own," though. Thanks for checking this stuff out!

  • Thats pretty sick mate. 10/10

  • sorry man, i meant stick size should **NOT** matter, i should've read it over before i posted that reply.

  • wow, perfect! but you need thin and short sticks to do this don't you?

  • not necessarily. if thats your preferred type of stick to use, by all means, use it, but im using 5A's in this one, and i've done it on marching snares with Ralph Hardimon vic firth's. The only thing necessarily for doing this is an elevated part like the hoop of the drum to rest the stick on. it's possible to use the edge of a surface instead but thats a little harder. stick size should matter. Thanks for checkin it out!

  • i like the sound of your snare ^_^

  • Your pretty good at gravity rolls- far better than me... but don't neglect the doubles, though it may just be the unevenness of the snare?

  • The rim shots re supossed to be unaudible

  • are you commenting the last part? that was with the left stick doing the 32nd notes, and the right stick hitting the left stick on the 16th notes to give it the bounce.

  • great playing!

  • true. i've touched a guitar probably twice in my entire life, and broken a string both of those times. ...an omen telling me to stick to my own damn instrument, perhaps? :)

  • he is just saying that cuz he saw it as a quote on the loading screen of rock band or something.LAWL

  • Which is funny, because it's probably true.

  • That was sweet. I like the snare sound as well.

  • wow, very good stuff

  • :O:O:O:O:OO:O:O:OOOOO::::OOOOO

  • thank you. great display of hand to hand independance

  • awsome, man! i gotta go practice...

  • wow!!! that was nice! 4/5

  • wow dude! that sounded so awesome!

  • wow man!!! Real nice, i agree with the comment below, nice groove too!!! sweeeeet.. LOOK AT MY DRUM VIDEO PLZ, IT HAS A GRAVITY ROLL AND A GROOVE!! thanks youtubers!! peace

  • This is the only video i've seen that has some innovation during the blast

  • fuck grav d.m.t

  • thats a nice blast youve got there.

its shame that you left hand lets you down a little on the speed front.

but i dont know how long youve been playing for.

    so i think its good

  • talk about nit picking =P

  • aaaaaaaaewesome!

  • omfg, NICE!!!

  • it's pretty amazing i wanna learn that

  • like my drum rolls but slower and sloppier

  • hhmm.. "se481" if you meant that the way it read..you seem a little conceded?

    dont be a fucking bitch

  • wow, a little sensitive are we, you drummers are all alike lol

  • haha

    in a way,

    your right

  • wow, real mature, asshole

  • perfect roll. the paradiddle with charlie snare and bass drum is awesome.

  • left hand does accents as well as stuff on other drums/cymbals most of the time. i'm working on the left hand gravity roll, but i mostly use my right hand for that. i cant get on youtube much this summer, but thanks a lot for all the interest & comments. \m/

  • well done

  • i taught him that

  • also....... can u do gravity rolls with both hands? cuz i couldnt tell from the video, it only truly captures the amazingness of ur left hand.

  • still workin' with the right. good observation. i'll be practicing it over the summer, you have my word.

  • oops when i said amazingness of your left hand i ment amazingness of your RIGHT hand, you cant really see what your left one is doing. Is the left just doing the accents or is it gravity rolling too?

  • holy shit balls man, best gravity roll vid ive ever seen anywhere. That's amazing. Im practicing those right now, any tips?? Keep rockin on man!!

  • try different grips. i got a great view of John Longstreth of Origin when i saw them not too long ago, and i noticed he does them a little differently. Good ol' Marco Pitruzella also does them a different way. try different grips, positions around the rim, tempos, rhythms, and see what's gonna work best for you. i wish there was a magic way to do it perfectly...

  • What total skill you have with this technique and more, that was excellent.

  • damn i need my snare to have that sounds real beautiful loose snares and a good tuning

  • apply that to some brutal death metal and now you're talking

  • check out Aborted Existence on myspace for that... there might only be 1 song on there but more will be up soon. Thanks once again!

  • omg 5 star :P

you do it so good !!! keep drumming

  • thanks man! that's the plan: "keep drumming" you too

  • insane man.

  • definatly the best i have seen on youtube!! rock on mate

  • Yay! With the moon gel!

  • incredible

  • nice and clear strokes .. great control over one haded roll

    cheers!!!
