  • SAVED!

  • The dianoga (trash compacter monster) figure was the best part.

  • To all of those who purchased the 'Death Star' play set. We are very sorry for any inconvenience. We are aware of the exhaust port fault, and are busting a gut 24/7 to try to rectify the problem. Unfortunatly no refunds are available. We value your custom. Yours, The Empire.

  • @IMTHEBIGGESTCUNT firmware update ROTJIV Should solve the problem short term but this may lead to billy dee williams flying a hamburger right into your centre at which point you may experience some flammable exhausting

  • I had that ! Christmas of 82 it was a gift and than two weeks later I destroyed it.

    What a DUMB ASS I AM !!!!!

  • hasbro remade this!!! stop doing that clone wars shit!

  • My cousin had this when i was a kid. I was sooooo jealous.

  • Oh man! For me this was the BEST Star Wars playset ever. There used to be a toy store called California Toys on North Broadway in Downtown L.A. and my dad bought me the last Death Star they had. And it was remarkable because this was back in 1981 when everything was in Empire packaging and this only had the original Star Wars logo on the box. Since then I've acquired 2 sealed sets which I will never part with. This and the original Sandcrawler were my favorites. Priceless childhood memories.

  • COOL!

  • I thought I'd imagined this.

  • 0:07 What? Darth Vader-Rambo style:)

  • did i hear darth vader go HOHOHO?

  • Oh No! Darth Vader is firing the laser cannon! That bastard! LOl!

  • I sold my bike to get this. Worth every penny...I was a total Star Wars/Kenner junkie BTW.

  • This was was probably my favorite Star wars play stage thing (with the Millennium Falcon coming in a very close second). I loved this thing. I literally played with it until there was nothing left. Over time all of the pieces were worn out or broken and some were lost. I think I carried the disembodied bits and pieces of it around for years even as an adult. It would just go into a storage area. I had really good times with this as a child, and I always think of it with delight.

  • I remember this and you actually saw the trash creature's whole body and knew what he looked like being the movie only showed his eye

  • Back when Hasbro had balls to make cool playsets.

  • Haha the Death Star is a box

  • All Luke does in this commercial is run away like a little wuss. Some hero...

  • I had this! It was awesome!

  • wow, i never had this toy. saw a picture from it in the Sears catalog, used to look at it over and over. my mom said it was crap. -Jeff

  • Oh , . . if I had only keep some of those in the box.

  • They should have built this set to scale.

  • ohhh it didn't get destroyed... you just making an excuse because you broke you friends death star gun XD

  • This was one of my favorite toys. EVER.

  • I wonder how much this toy cost the parents.

  • @lcirej71 Believe it or not, back then it ranged from $18.99 to up to 25 bucks. And 25 dollars was usually the store that always charged more for it's toys than other stores did.

  • I had one and this dude punched the laser cannon into a million parts....hehehehe Good old days.

  • Man I was Little I had soo many of these

  • lol the light saber looks so funny

  • always thought this was lame even as a kid. too cheap

  • i had this set i got it in 1984 from a guy from my school 5 pounds i got it for loved it .

  • I remember getting this for Christmas, 1979. It was basically cardboard and plastic, and my smartassed 16 year old brother said, "In two weeks, that thing'll be a FALLING star."

  • I had this toy and LOVED it! Great fun!

  • I remember my brother having this. I played with the trash compactor more than anything else lol.

  • darth vaders firin MA LAZOR!

  • I remember having this as a kid. I found out that the big laser cannon doubled as a ray gun when we played war in the yard. Sadly the rest of the playset met its demise when my father locked the dog in the garage where it was stored ... the dog even managed to rip apart the little foam squares from the trash compactor. Nothing was left of it except a pile of shredded cardboard and disfigured pieces of plastic with bite marks in them.

  • I like this take-charge Vader...personally manning the laser cannon and chasing

    meddlesome teenagers around himself.

  • @gusbaker4u Come on--Vader didn't take any carp from anyone--except Emperor Palpatine.

  • @gusbaker4u lmfao

  • @gusbaker4u LOL yes this is a very proactive Vader.

  • Of course, nowadays you can buy the Death Star set piece-by-piece in more elaborately detailed sections from Tarkin's briefing room to Docking Bay 327 to the core for the superlaser cannon.

  • really were can you buy that?I have never seen it.

  • I haven't seen it myself, but if I know Lucasfilm and the Hasbro Toy company and the way the two companies market toys and collectibles nowadays, you can expect such items anytime soon...mostly when you least expect it. After all, the $150 "Deluxe" Millenium Falcon from last year's line caught many by surprise.

  • where can you get that at??

  • The Millenium Falcon, you mean? They sold them in retail stores like Toys R Us and Wal-mart last year, but since they've been discontinued this year your best bet is Ebay.

  • They STILL have many of them at TRU. They did not sell too well. Priced too high. I may pick one up this week. It is 50% off.

  • they do?after 30 years?

  • @PunkValenzuela

I was referring to the deluxe Millenium Falcon.

  • Best playset ever.

  • retarded, i'l show you retarded

  • it's pretty retarded. Nothing even worked

  • i want that

  • I was never arond in the 70-80s :(

  • when I was a kid i always wanted one of these

    its 17.99

  • A trayash manster!

  • haha! I have won tons of these old guys with all their shit. its so cool. i even have darth vader with original cloak.

  • Oh, I wish I'd that one. I had a lot of Star Wars toys like the Mil Fal and the Hoth playset ... even Vaders Tie Fighter. This would have topped them all.

  • My Uncle Dan had this when I was a kid. I lusted after it so badly...

  • Hey, I am looking on ajy info of a re release of the Death Star Playset or a new one.

I know Lego put out one just recently, as well a a transformers one, but I am interested in Hasbro has any plans to make a new one for their 3 3/4 figure line.

Please contact me if you know Thanks.

  • I remember that light bridge never did work like it did in the commercial....... But it was an awesome playset anyway! I wish they would bring this set back like the new Millenium Falcon. I love this new version!

  • My auntie bought this for me for Christmas when I was in the sixth grade. I was so excited to open it that I couldn't eat a bite of dinner that Christmas.

Sure - it was kind of flimsy (all the walls were cardboard inserts) - but man was it cool.

I want to buy one now.

  • I had this. It was cool.

  • I have a cardboard death star from the 70s. Not half as cool as that.

  • Coolest playset ever!

  • I wish I still had mine, but I think I wore it out, like so many other young Star Wars fanatics.

  • was the laser really supposed to do that, or did the damn kid break it and they had to cover for it? I didnt have the star destroyer, but I had a Tecnodrome from the turtles and if that was any indication of how Kenner made its "you put it together" playsets, I'm sure the Death Star fell apart, 2 meter exhaust port not included

  • The laser was designed with a button that you hit to make it "explode". That's what the kid in the commercial did.

  • This thing was kind of a piece of shit...I remember the cannon, and trash compactor breaking on mine...maybe I was a rough ass kid...I would love to have it again...

  • Why did my little sis brake mine it makes me so mad now all i have is the trash monster o well still got my complete ewok village the ewok village was better to begin with =D

  • So here it is,13 years later and Hasbro STILL has yet to bless us with a "kick ass" version of this holy-est of all holy grail toys. Yes,the new 2008 Mega size,tricked-out Millennium Falcon rocks, but just think of a new Death Star. It would be sweeeeeeeeeeet. Oh well,I guess those two 1996 crappy play sets were supposed to satisfy us. Ha! They sucked total ass! What a frigging joke those were!

  • Do you remember the big recall on this toy because the foam from the trash compactor had lead in it?

  • I still have mine...I can't believe that it will be 30 years old this year!

  • This thing was crazy! I think it was the largest toy I had up to that time.

  • I WANT ONE SO BAD!!! :( one time me and my dad built a death star playset out of cardboard boxes just like this one to hold me over till i finally got the real one but when i put it in my grandparents garage they threw it out. i was so pissed when i found out!!! >:(

  • I had one when I was a Kid til my Mom decided to get rid of my stuff while i was sent to Granny over the Summer. Luckily, several years ago, My now Ex-Wife worked with a Guy who told her he had some Starwars playset "unopened" in his attic and if I would be interested in it. When I found out it was the original DeathStar I was Like "HELL YEAH" although he thought I was crazy to pay him $75.00 for it. "If he only knew what it's really Worth! Its still unopened but I urge to play with it sometimes

  • I have one!!

  • I want one !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What exactly hit Vaders laser cannon??? I didnt see shit.

  • Hey you pinheads at Hasbro, quit it with the Clone repaints and remake this sucker!

  • @RDarth

Better idea give us a full scale Death Star Playset

  • "You won't escape me! Jump Luke !"

I still remember that line, classic!

  • wow i remember this... god i miss my youth...

  • "Oh no! The trash monster!"

  • The Death Star was awesome... I remember the trash compactor had foam debris and a green monster.

I think it even had the pole you could use to jam it (not sure if it came with that or if I just made one... lol)

  • I don't know why, this toy hasn't been remade yet.

  • I wanted one so bad for christmas.I carried the sears catalog around for a month showing everybody the picture of it.I told mom and dad if I didnt get anything else I would'nt care.

  • Jump Luke! LOL

  • Dude I found that at a Sci-Fi Store a while ago for nearly 200 dollars, one toy they should remake
