@PolemicArts True, for relatively short exposure times, a cable release adapter is better suited, but this mod works great for night photography, where the exposure is measured in minutes. I usually cover the lens with my hand as I insert and remove the lock, to prevent camera shake being recorded on the film.
@TiffanyChoable This video is for the clothespin lock for the Holga 120, which should also work on the Holga 135. A locking cable release cable will also work in the Holga 135, but not the Holga 120 which does not have a cable release socket. You can use a cable release on the Holga 135 by installing it in the threads of the shutter release button. For the Holga 135, a locking cable release is probably the better solution.
@MrBrandec The shutter release lock is used in low light conditions when the N setting (about 1/100 sec) is too quick for a proper exposure. It allows you to keep the shutter open for extended periods of time for long exposure.
When you pull the clothes pin, there will be little or no camera movement. The hard part will be inserting the clothes pin without shaking the camera too much. I will usually cover the lens with my hand while inserting the clothes pin, so no movement gets recorded. This set up works best with longer exposures(10+ sec). For shorter exposures (1/2 sec to 10 sec), I would recommend buying the Holga cable release adapter.
sadly,my holga doesn't have a bulb mode :(
