The Lincoln LS weighs 3,900 pounds according to the 2005 brochure I have, and the Continental weighs 3,848 LBS according to a road test from motor trend. The Conti has a 4.6L DOHC 32v V8 from the Mustang Cobra. The LS V8 is a 3.9L V8. The LS has 280 HP and the Conti has 275 HP but it's slightly lighter. I bet it would be a great race actually. One I'd love to see.

@soulademics yeah, depending on where you live. it takes 89+, where i live, it's 93. i live in nc right now, next to the coast so i get about 20 miles to the gallon on average, but when i go home to wv to visit, i get way less that that. so if you live in a mountainous area, you might what to think about getting another car. =]]
@soulademics its not a guzzler it depends how u drive it i could get 30 on the highway if i worked for it and at 80mph i was still getting 20-23mpg yes it takes premium but in town take it easy on the throttle and u can get 19-20mpg in town and like i said i got as much as 30 on the highway

I got mine its quick, it gets me to work on time and beats most of the jackasses on the road when i pass them by, i dont need to prove anyone anything about my ride on a drag strip, its dumb drug strips are made for muscle cars and sports cars not for plain sedans

Drag strips are made for people that want to compare their cars against other cars and who want motivation to make their cars faster. It's not a requirement that they be muscle cars, sports cars, or any sort of classification of cars.
I am timing these runs, giving you a little bit of rollout (not starting the timer til you roll forward a few inches) and stopping the timer right as the timeboard lights up and even subtracting one or two tenths to give you the benefit of the doubt and i'm still coming up with about 15.5 every time. Are you subtracting your reaction time from the ET the timeslip shows?

Putting an automatic transmission in "manual" mode isn't likely to make your car any faster - you still get the losses inherent in an automatic transmission.
I own a 2001 Lincoln LS and it's a kick ass car. I too have had trans problems so I'm going to have replace it soon. Other than that I enjoy the ride and feel of the LS.
Ya know, the LS may not win every drag... but up in the mountains on the twisty curveys, it'll hand that integra its lunch EVERY time... all the while with the A/Ced seats keeping ya from getting swamp-ass! :-)
Integra driver was not a "driver." First he proceeds to heat up street tires. Which is about the stupidest thing you can do. Dumb people see the real drag cars heat up their slicks and think they should do the same with their Michelins. Then he tachs it up and dumbs the clutch, spins all the way through first gear, bangs it off the rev limiter for about a half a second and then basically flat shifts second. Amazing. Sorry LS fans, not tryin to take the wind outta your sails. Nice car Alex.

I have a black one and i can take almost all the rice burners in the chicago east side and I love the looks and feel, i had trans problems but rebuilt it, and plan to have the gasket seals replaced . its hard work but i have passion for this car...
A piece wore out, not sure what is was, it would make my shifting go all crazy. Another thing went the trans Light came on, I took it in because the check engine light came on as well. They kept telling me it was the Sillanoid pack, But trust me its not..I drove it like that and when I replaced it , well it was like new again. My balljoints also needed replacing but a wheel Aligment will buy you extra time, Around 1 to 2 months extra. You can get those Onepiece online for cheap.

The Getrag 221 that came with the V6 isn't known for being especially strong and it couldn't handle the added torque of the V8.
