My right hand says NRBQ was the best bar band ever- but my left hand says it was the original Nighthawks! Say them in the early 80's at the Stanhope House in NJ- still brings a smile to my face.
I cut my teeth on these guys. We used to sneak into the Psyche Delly in Bethesda,MD & The Fairfax Theatre in VA to see them back in the 70's. I just love 'em and this line-up was the best IMO. Jim Thackery on Guitar, Jan Zukowski on Bass, Pete Ragusa on Drums and Mark Wenner on Harp.
I remember the Nighthawks fondly! I spent a New Years Eve, in DC, locked in a nightclub - with the Nighthawks! ( yeah! they were recording a live album! ) I just danced all night long and tried to be quiet! It was terribly exciting. Am thrilled to find them on You Tube!!! That was the 70's!
we use to hav e Motorcycle charity rides n my parents would host the after party and the last year it was at our house we had The Nighthawks and Queen Bee and the Blue Hornets play. I was pretty young so I didnt get to stay for the whole party (it got wild at like 10am so you can only imagine 10pm). but both bands were awesome. Iliked Queen Bee better but it was awesome.
Hell yes the rock....saw them on a riverboat cruise, VA in 1979...Wow...they really still have got it!
