You could always tell Flea was a little too good for Kiedis.
Frusciante is solid, and Flea of course is like a live wire of musical soul.
It's nice to see Flea liberated to go into more exotic terrain without that douchebag Kiedis penning shit lyrics for the upteenth time about California.
@slitheringinterstate totally agree, that's why Frusciante left too, he made good stuff in solo, his skills are really amazing and he composed most of rhcp good songs.
Great to see this weird group having so much fun !

my brother has a hard on for thom yorke, so i listen to all their performances so i know what i'm talking about in conversation, cause i like to have an educated opinion. this is a pretty damn good song i have to say, and musically, it just flows perfectly. but ... i do not like most of their stuff i've heard. my bro actually chose to see these guys instead of muse (they both played in the bay area, same night). I can now say BIG MISTAKE. Muse blows these guys away .. at this point anyways.
@0526rolo Without Radiohead, there'd be no Muse... I've seen Muse live they are pretty good live. Muse is a loud epic arena band, which I'm just guessing you like that more. I like that too... But Radiohead... Their apart of Music history forever now.
im a massive thom yorke and radiohead fan, but i just cant see the rhcp bass sound and thom's sound mixing well.. sorry.. flea and yorke are awesome but this doesnt sound good.
@magua4: i was skeptical myself til i saw the show last night. Wow. Just wow. Thom obviously wanted to beef up all the incredibly funky elements of Eraser for the Atoms live show. And it works. Fleas bass in context with the huge drums and percussion was a really great underpinning for Thom and Nigel Goodrich;s ethereal vocal and effects dabblings. Fresh. And Flea was also a great spritely stage companion for Thom. Loved watching them. This song was heart-stopping at Roseland.
@Chunkadook Half true. The "in Rainbows" Reckoner was developed from a bridge Thom was trying to write for it, and it turned into its own song. Thank god they didnt trash this though.....mindblowing

it's so 90's alt rock. ok what if we like took Radiohead and RHCP and mashed it up with some Janes Addiction? Hey and here's an idea, let's call ourselves Atoms for Peace... or maybe Chain Wallet?
you eat balls man. this is completely different than any sort of 90s alt rock. it's like some groovy ass groovin groove music. i'd love to see this and roll my balls off
Not a Les Paul, although it is cool when Jonny plays one at the Fonda Music Box. This is a vintage Gibson ES - 330TD. Probably around 1967. The Epiphone Casinos (as referenced below) made in the 60s (when they were made well and used by the Beatles) were actually copies of this guitar. What's really interesting about this model is its completely hollow, unlike something like a 335. So it feedbacks like a motherfucker. Hope this helps.
It used to be "Reckoner"...........way way back many moons ago. From AtEaseWeb: Lyrics for the 'Old Reckoner' Feeling pulled apart by horses Fobbed off with lame {"shite" or "shoddy"} excuses. Feeling pulled apart by horses Reckoner Papapa Reckoner Papapapa Reckoner
I hope Thom can find time to record this new songs before the next radiohead album come out in late 2010/ early 2011... I need somthing to hold me over!!
yeah, that happens over time. you just need to recalibrate it. I don't remember the sequence, but if you read the manual or google it you should be able to find it pretty easily.
Don't compare colin with flea...that's nonsense! has a bassist myself (simply a hobby...) i can see that flea is much better playing a bass, of course it is! but that's different from being a better musician...flea is great for this, and i like this .But there are good things like this, bad things like keen, and there's radiohead. Colin is a part of radiohead, and that said, it isn't comparable with flea. Thom can have 1000 projects, but in the end i think he knows that radiohead comes first...
Coldplay does a really good job ripping off OK computer-era Radiohead and U2's entire catalogue. If that's criteria for a great band, Coldplay's the greatest band in the world.
@jodcook Sorry I don't think you've got your head on right, I've listened to Coldplays catalogue... it doesn't sound anything like Ok Computer. I don't know where people get the idea that Coldplay sounds like Radiohead. It's bollocks.
having thom and flea together is more or less a kiniption contest. who's looks more epileptic onstage!??! fantastic that nigel is a part of this. great stuff altogether
I find pretty much all of Radiohead / Thom Yorke's post OK Computer stuff to be that way. The live versions just seem to always sound better than the recorded stuff. Of course, having Flea on bass helps... :o
He is not using slap & pop on this song , its just finger picking.
Its more proeminent because the bass has a bit of distortion on it , and also Thom plays with an octave pedal set to -12 semitones from what I can hear.
i would agree that it goes to long but considering it was released on only a two track ep, the length is understandable. if it was on a 12 song album then, yeah it might be a bit long.
See I disagree with that. I've always been able to "get" the recorded tracks just fine, it's just these two new Yorke ones... they're just not working for me in the studio, especially this one (which is a shame, as I love all three live versions). Don't know why.
yes i know but back in the day like 2003 this song was known as reckoner and tha t lyric was in there, dont get me wrong, inrainbows is fantastic but this song should have kept that lyric but kept the title as feeling pulled apart by horses, just that lyric was amazing. always brought the chill to my spine.
