When someone says there are matrial arts that are better than other - he do not understand martial arts at all.

Fighting and hurting someone is just one thing about MA. in this video I can see much more martial arts than in any "real" ring fight.

Martial - Of, related to, or suited for war or a warrior. This is pretty, and not unimpressive, and not inherently detrimental to martial arts training, just as ballet dancing isn't. However, it's not martial art. Doesn't mean it's useless, but this man isn't preparing for war. I'm sick of the arguments against martial artist doing this. That's like telling someone not to play the flute if they do karate. It's irrelevant, let them be. I'm sick of people saying this is martial art, it's not.

I just don't see the martial aspect... although to be fair, much of any tournament fighting, or sparring and such has rules (thank goodness) to protect the participants. This doesn't even involve an opponent. It's awesome, and I'm not even saying I'm a better martial artist than this guy, but I don't think this video portrays martial arts. Then again... what do I know, one can practice calligraphy and relate it, in their own minds, to their personal martial arts training... so who really knows?

I can't emphasize enough how awesome this is, or how much respect I have for the guy and this art. I just don't think it's a martial art. I think that this is at best an exercise, that when applied to martial arts properly, may improve conditioning, balance, coordination, power and flexibility... but the end goal of martial arts is martial application. Feel free to disagree, I know some people practice martial arts for the forms. I feel like the forms are an exercise for the application.
