  • teeeeeccchhhniicaallllyy. it would have to be the integral of banana, dbanana, not dx... just saying.

  • story of my life! LoL! Love it

  • I'm glad I won't have to do calculus until a couple years

  • out of 10, i personally follow 8steps while solving a calculus problem... LOL!

  • hahahahaha last semester, got the same book! and yes dealing with the same damn thing! hahahaha

  • Im taking a break right now. And trying to figure out how to do this complicated integral. LOL

  • Can someone actaly tell me the true steps to find out the problm no silly step's please?

  • @ycatscat that really is how you do it, honestly!

  • @ycatscat according to wolframalpha, the answer would be pretty rediculous. here it is goo[dot]gl/3bSRt

  • lmaooo omg this happens to me every time i pick up ANY of my hw! (especially calculus though!..ummm...besides the banana (i would have just put the 'u' and the guitar (piano instead!) parts!...lol :D

  • omg everything about this video is true!! i'm suppose to be studying for the mlc exam, but instead i'm taking my 20 minute break, and i'll get some juice after and then it's back to studying! lol

  • so true, just type "integral calculator" into Google and there's your answer.

    great video!

  • lol i'm in the same position as you right now

  • This faggot needs to be burned at the stake.

  • Lol , nice vid

  • I don't think I've ever had to integrate arcsec before!

I just found a way! One could invert everything so that you're integrating the sec(x) rather than the arcsec(x). One could find the anti-derivative of sec(x) by parts, and then subtract that from the box you get when you take xsec(x). xsec(x)-sec(x)^(-1) should equal the integral of arcsin(x), you just need to be careful about inverting x & y and staying in domain restrictions. "^(-1)" means the 1st antiderivative.

  • Lol What !!

  • damn glad im not alone

  • i like step 10 it much easy

  • Don't forget the +C!

  • @Renagade4 hehe i always forget it

  • I have to admit that this is exactly how I do my calculus homework. That's why I never finish it.

  • me too lmao

  • @TheSusan9564 you always miss the last step :o ? lol! :)

  • REALLY NICE...

  • This is almost exactly what I do, except I end up on youtube watching videos such as this.

  • what if I don't like juice? o_O

  • At 0:48...should be 1/banana dbanana...not dx, lol XD

  • have u ever wondered why you should study senseless things?

  • cause maybe I wanna teach senseless things to the future generation =P lol.

  • im all in for the music

  • this was me 2 minute ago.. =/

  • wooo calculus!!

  • U FORGOT TO SHAKE THE JUICE DUMBASSSSSS jk lol ill be taking honors algebra 2 next year im taking Geometry rite now its pretty easy but Algebra 2 Honors in my school is a fail class lol

  • This video is the stupidest waste of time ever... but i cant stop watching it!! LOL nice vid man got alot of laughs from me

  • i have a list of all the rules on a big chart on my wall (e.g. point slope, cubic rule etc).

sometimes u forget these obvious rules exist and often the answer's right in front of u.

(u can either do that or have a joint) lol

  • or you can steal a TI-89

  • This is actually what happens with Calculus!

  • This is the day to day ritual of my calc homework...including the 5 min (i mean 45) break for some drums

  • I do the same thing whenever I look at my calculus homework! I actually have some calc HW due right now :(.

  • It's funny because if he considered the function:

    Xarcsec(X^2 + 1)

He'd realize that the function is undefined at all points so there really is not integral.

  • also, he subsituted x for banana, but he didnt change dx to dbanana.!

then he might have been right.

    what is dx/dbanana.?

  • duh! everyone knows dx/dbanana= cucumber! :P

  • @nig49 he still wouldn't be right because the derivative of x arcsec(x^2 + 1) isn't 1...

  • Thats exactly how i do calc, guitar and all

  • This is so true!

And yeah, I should be doing calculus homework right now.

  • wats with ur short pencil? haha

  • you should get a longer pencil because you may write better and if not you can still make some artictic moves with it

  • thats is exactly what i do when i do calc homework. like to the exact step. i get juice, i play guitar, then i look it up on the internet.

    but i don't sub banana.

  • nice video dude...creative and funny

  • haha cool....n thats a big glass of juice.

  • you're so cute!! :P

  • awesome

  • Instead of doing U sub for problems, I am now going to banana sub on my tests. I hope I get extra points!

  • thats how i study for calculus at the end u barely pass.

  • By the way how do you find calculus? I'm going to take it next year...

  • nice video, I should do it too

  • what's the name of the song?

  • wow... that is exactly how i feel right now trying to study Calc 2....thanks for the laugh

  • Natual log of Baanana? LOL

  • haha im tempted to use a banana as a variable on my calc final

  • lol, haha,. this video is so true! haha

lol, he invented a new method for anti derivs, "Banana Substitution!". hahaha. that was funny. xD

  • Hehe, thanks. Glad you enjoyed it!

  • this is so me!!!

  • I bet half of you people should be studying right now.

  • @LiesMustStop wahahahaha, so true.

  • I really doubt this problem appeared on your curriculum. It's #19, odd, likely in the back of the book. In fact, the solution to such an inverse trig integral isn't pretty, simple, nor easy to find. I doubt it would be found in the course of a normal calculus text, it was probably contrived to look "hard".

  • yes it is there R online intgral solvers n stuff made to make life simplier.. or you could just solve it on excel basis XD

  • I liked the break for a glass of juice part.

  • Thanks, me too. I love juice. :-D.

  • so did you ever figure out the answer to that problem? heheheh

  • wat is the name of that second song he was playing on the guitar? Anyone? anyone?

  • The first song I played was "Come As You Are" by Nirvana and the second song was the guitar part for a song I wrote called "Radiology: Blood vessels are numbered with purpose."

  • dbanana

  • lol i'm watching these videos when i should be studying for my important exams at the end of my 3 year term in 3 weeks and i should be finishing my homework for tomorrow but i'll just watch stuff on this and say i forgot my books well thats basically what i've been doing for the past 3 months

  • By the way, it's funny but I am watching this video, while I should be studying for the AP Calc exam next Wenesday.

  • It's sad to admit that it is true..

  • It's bad when you watch this cideo and think, what a fag, and then you think ohh wait arcsec integrals are so easy and then you think.. oh god... im a fag to

  • haha I bet I'll be doing this alot next year. yikes calculus next year!

  • i watching this video study for the ap exam

  • calculus is so much fun!

  • Haha, well I'm very glad you think so :-D. And I agree. It is fun when you understand it. The trouble is trying to understand it, which is not fun.

  • i totally agree and nice video buddy

  • i lol'd deffintly a true video.. wish me luck on my test today! crap!

  • So TRUE!

  • I think this is what I would do as well lol

  • good old procrastination

  • Aye! :-)

  • you forgot the countless pages of writing then crossing out then a washroom break where the answer suddenly becomes clear and then you second guess yourself and stay up until 3am trying to figure out the last month of class which you slept through, because you have a mid term the next day, then giving up and going to bed and asking your friends in the morning.

    i.e. my situation right now

  • Haha, I extend my uttermost sympathy. I went through a few nights of that too. Not cool...

  • i feel your pain brotha!

  • nice monitor

and thanks, this has been a great morale booster

  • You're a bit huge dork. But that's ok... What defeats you in High School gets you laid in the real world lol.

    Ya, what's your major?

  • Haha, my majorS are English and Music. So I guess I am kind of a dork. :-P

  • you forgot the dbanana =(

  • Yes, I did. Please forgive me. :-P

  • you have made my school life so much easier my hats off to you

  • Wow man, I'm only in business calculus and I'm really struggling...

can you really look up the answers online?!

  • My book had a website that had the solutions to the even numbered problems online (or odd numbers, I don't recall). The same answers were in the back of the book, but the solutions were online, so I could see how the answer was reached.

  • Step 11. Look up the answer in the book since it's an odd numbered problem :-)

Also, what are you doing problems from chapter 8 for??? That's calculus 2!

  • Haha, yeah but the odd numbered problems only have answers and not solutions :-).

And I took Calc 2 because I'm insane. It doesn't go toward my majors at all.

  • Daniel, that was awesome! Will these steps work in calculus 2?

  • Haha, thanks buddy :-P. Oh, I think you could work them in somehow. :-)

  • Haha, that was great!!!!! It is sooooo true!!!!!

  • Haha, thanks.

  • its actually helpful if you color the banana green. Tried and tested.

  • mmm, because then it's an unripe banana and uh...really hard to eat? and it won't make you as hungry?

  • this was awesome dude :P

  • *bows* Thanks! I'm really glad you enjoyed it!

  • i like the bananas lol

  • haha, thanks. Bananas are pretty fun. :-)

  • yea, bananas are the shit. hehe

  • My cat is on fire

  • wow, that's almost what I do lol except playing the guitar I go watch some TV lol

  • you have really neat handwriting. when i write for algebra 2 (im in 9th grade, 2 years ahead), it's like a pig threw up on my paper. i actually had to redo a test because me handwriting was so messy.

  • Haha, wow. That's amazing. My handwriting usually isn't so great. I was concentrating pretty hard ;-).

  • I've used the same book...

  • wow. i found this vid super helpful.

  • it is a beutiful piece of classical music

Is it Beethoven what is is called?

  • Eh, I don't recall exactly which piece it is. It's one of Beethoven's piano sonatas, I think.

  • I've got a few questions . . .

How long is that pencil you were writing with? it seemed on a few centimetres long. . . just enough to hold?

And yeah I take music breaks too, I play piano however

  • Ha, yeah, it was just a pencil stub. I tend to use my pencils down to the eraser.

Music breaks are great. Alot of good music has come out of my breaks :-P.

  • Lmao

  • MMMmmmmMMMmm Delicious juice :)

  • Sweet video

  • thanks!

  • Quick! What do I do if I am out of juice!?!?

  • Crackers and cheese work too...any excuse for a break, right? ;-)

  • Maybe I should see what my teacher says to the banana thing. :P

I laughed for ages at this. Thanks. :)

    x

  • Hehe, you're welcome :-D. I'm glad you liked it!

  • lmao...u substitution with a banana

  • damn, it's like i'm watching myself. i'm supposed to be doing calculus right now.

  • your username is killa'banana'84. so are you gonna substitute with a banana too?

  • Hahaha. I do step 7 quite a few times!

  • haha, same here, beats the hell out of calculus

  • Ha. yes. I am on step 10 right now.

  • I'd rather just solve it... LOL, doesn't take that long to do a question xD usually youd take the derivative first :P

  • this video is exactly what I do sans step 7. I play games instead xD And i drink the juice while staring at the problem.

  • Funny!

This reminds me of my first calculus instructor. To make a long story short, he wasn't worth a shit, therefore I didn't learn shit! It wasn't until I got a better instructor and only then was able to unlock the secrets of calculus! When it comes to caculus a GOOD instructor will either make it interesting or dull as dirt!

  • whats the name of the song?

  • integral of 1/banana is only ln|bananna| if the integral is taken with respect to bananna. you have it with respect to x... lol. and i think that book is the same as mine. i always skipped straight to step ten... prolly bc i never even opened the book till half hour before the problems were due, btu still... lol.

  • banana is a function of x, so the integral is still ln|banana|

  • Wow, Daniel...a marriage proposal?

    Congrats.

Maybe this will work for problem solving...only, we already have bananas in the problem (somtimes), so I can't substitute a banana for a banana.

  • That's not how you do it!!! HA!

  • Hehe, yeah, yeah, I know. I cheated. :-P But I wish it worked...

  • Tell me about it...

  • good job man!

  • Thanks!

  • There were classes in grad school I never would have survived without online help. I got to know Henno the topologist really well.

  • OMG

WHEN I SAW YOU PLAYED THAT GUITAR I WAS LIKE OMG THATS ME RIGHT THERE!!!!i do that i take breaks and play guitar on breaks

  • Haha, Guitar: the greatest stress-reliever/way to kill time ever.

    Glad you could relate :-).

  • omg!!!! u are doing it JUST LIKE I ALWAYS DO xD awsm :P

  • did you see his pencil? you're supposed to use grapes not bananas you fuccn' idiot!

  • Actually, using round fruits is kind of dangerous. They look too much like zeros. Unless, perhaps, you drew them inside a little basket...and maybe put a red bow on top. ;-)

  • roflol ... that was awsume.................

You're Really Hot And I Wanna Marry You.

    ~X~

...The banana's really hawt and i totttaly want to marry it! o_O

  • hehe, thanks.

  • You're Really Hot And I Wanna Marry You.

  • Hahahaha... no shit.

  • Hehe, screw using U...I'm using banana from now on!

  • LOL!!! It only shows what the calculus can do. hahahaha! nice1

  • Hehe, thanks :-P. Glad you liked it!

  • LMFAO... thanks, now i will definitely get a hundred in mhy calculus class

  • this video reminded me of the Clockwork Orange

  • what edition is your book

  • It's the eighth edition of CALCULUS by Larson, Hostetler, and Edwards. Sorry it took me so long to respond. I kept forgetting to go and look at my book :-P.

  • Writing the question down and staring at that instead: welcome to my life, haha.

  • Dude, nice video, really well put together! I really liked the lighting and the directing...made for a clean, smooth vid. Keep up the good work!

  • Thanks! :-)

  • LOL. I can identify with that... and I even got an A+ in calc. :-P I love where you spit the pick out. :-D "O, futility!"

  • you didn't shake the juice...

  • I didn't? Weird. I usually do. Ah well. It was good anyway :-D.

  • I love it.

I also don't think I've ever seen you wear a short sleeved polo.

  • Thanks!

I used to wear short sleeved polos allllll the time in highschool. With sock ties, if I was going anywhere. :-P
