Nice Pics - what type of lenses did you use? Good job on the photoshop too.

All of these pictures were either taken with the Nikon 18 to 55 or the Nikon 55 to 200. They were the only two lenses I had when I made this video.

Thank you so much!! I'm glad you enjoyed my video and my photography. The photos in this video were all shot with a 18-55mm or the 55-200mm from Nikon. I'm very fortunate to have a lot of friendly wild birds in my back yard who come quite close to me enabling me to get a good shot of them with needing a very long lens. That being said I did crop the birds images a bit with the google program Picassa

All of these shots are excellent but my favs are the birds. The detail and the soft look of the downy feathers is very nice. There are great cameras but they can only capture what the eye beholds(I think I heard  that somewhere) :]

does 40d beat this image quality with the right lens?

A high end camera and a good lens will always be helpful, but the know how of the camera's settings are what allows you to capture good quality images. I will say, these shots were taken with intro level lenses but they still came out pretty good.

I did a little look up into Cannon since I am familiar with Nikon. If I were you I'd go for the Cannon EF-S 18-200mm F/3.5-5.6 standard zoom lens. I purchased the Nikon 18-200mm lens about 3 months ago to replace my entry level lenses and couldn't be happier with it. 18-200mm gives you a lot of versatility as it's has a decent zoom and can still be used as a wide angle.

Mostly aperture priority mode. Although some were done in Manual or Shutter Priority mode

Being unfamiliar with Cannon Cameras I really can't say. If it's like pairing the Nikon D300 vs a D40 with the same lens, the D300 is obviously a better camera but I'd be willing to bet you wouldn't be able to determine what camera took with pictures

Thank you very much, I'm grateful for such a nice comment. The Cannon 40D is an excellent camera, has a bit of a leg up over the Nikon D40 which I used. I'm sure with the knowledge of the right settings you'd be able to take great photos.
