The movie was good, it seemed a bit "amateur like" but that was part of the appeal...It was simple, and lovely. A man in love who is heterosexual and expresses himself like Bruce Greenwoods character did, always wins me over anyway so I'm rather biased when it comes to a vulnerable male characters. All in all it was sweet.

Neither is this romantic nor is it a comedy: Just a lot of self-indulgent people brought up in a self-indulging ethos, moving through a molasses slow "plot". Mehta makes token nods to her Indian background with the Tabla riffs and mention of Bollywood; quite unnecessary and self-referential in a Hollywood style vapid fare. Watching it after Moolade made the movie doubly trivial. I give it a 4 out of 10.

What a wonderfull, intelligent, sensitive movie. I am from Germany and wanted to watch it since the day I heard about it. SO happy I found it on YouTube, for its rather difficult to buy it here. There has been no german release. I love Bruce Greenwood, and he is awesome in this movie, did such a great, natural, warm performance. Deserves more opportunities to do so.

Hallo, leider gibt es den Film in Deutschland überhaupt nicht. Liegt wohl daran, dass auch die Bücher von Carol Shields hier nicht verlegt werden.

Man kann ihn auch nicht als UK-Import kaufen. Ich habe ihn über eBay direkt aus den USA bestellt, wofür ich dann noch einen neuen Player brauchte, der LC1 abspielt.

Sch..., dass es ihn hier nicht gibt. Meine beste Freundin liebt den Film ebenfalls, aber sie versteht kaum englisch, und er hat auch keinen Untertitel zum Mitlesen.

Ja, sie liebt diesen Film. Er ist so intelligent und warmherzig gemacht. Die ersten Male haben wir ständig pausiert, damit ich ihr übersetzen konnte, aber so langsam weiß sie einigermaßen auswendig, worum es geht.

Bruce Greenwood ist mein Lieblingsschauspieler, und da viele seiner Filme keinen deutschen Release haben oder grässlich synchronisiert sind, komme ich nicht darum herum, mehr und mehr englisch zu lernen. Macht ja so auch am meisten Spaß!

Aber der Ton der DVD, naja ...
