Okay, I did it. I went and installed a Silenx Ixtrema 120mm 1200rpm 11dBA 46cfm fan behind the radiator of the Vantage after removing the spacer thing. It's plugged in a mobo header at 100%. I got 46 or so degrees C socket temperature. running BOINC, down about 5 from before... cores are 62, 58, 59, 54. Also, it runs a lot quieter now, because both fans can run slower and move the same amount of air. The Vantage is in Extreme mode, the fan it's controlling is at ~1300rpm. Thanks for the advice.
@RUMBLERIDER2 Huh, I guess the fan controller built into the block can't handle two fans. Or maybe the motherboard's 4 pin output can't handle two fans and the pump. I guess I'll just get a 3 pin and stick it in my fan controller. How's the noise level with the additional fan, and, more importantly, the CPU temperature delta between having two fans and one (and core temps if you can, I'm running 3.8GHz).
What is the extra fan you are using for your Vantage? I'm planning on doing that myself...I need a 4 pin PWN fan and a 4 pin Y splitter so the Vantage can control both fans. A 3 pin isn't going to cut it, I think.
awesome setup. Very well equipped system. 100% Kick ass rig....thumbs up for sure. Thx for taking your time to upload this video again....I appreciate that very much.
