Well, the idea is really cool, but I have to say some things. The BASSIST doesn't play the bass line accurately, specially on the HEY! WAIT!...He has to play the same thing the guitarrist is playing, I mean, JUST that forced string. Above all, this is a nice cover. DO NOT CONFUSE mixing and mastering with your lame ears if you don't know that this session is not made in a PRO studio.
The upper harmony on the verses is a nice touch. Very imaginative---rather than being a straight duplicate third above, it's actually a counter-motif coming down to meet the main melody.
he can't even play the chorus properly. you do not play the chords and bend then, you play the chord AND bend, not just cut the them off. that just sounds horrible, like he's been playing for 2 months. the flanger is totally over the top, too. also, no offense. just my opinion.
That's your (wrong) opinion. =p Hey I know, how about you put up a video cover of the song showing us all how to play guitar? Then maybe you'll have some cred.
For just being an "opinion" you're being rather insulting. You don't see me going onto the videos of you playing the guitar or drums and saying how horrible it is. There is a thing called common courtesy, and even if what you are saying has some element of truth to it, you need to be a bit more considerate informing the person of what they are doing wrong. If you just come out saying "Guitar is horrible" you are trolling, and nobody will take you seriously. No offense, just truth. :)
yeah eric, i should've said in my first post, right. but i explained it in my second one, therefore... all ok, no reason to fight now.
darkener: i'm not making videos for random internet people. also, do your research before you have a big mouth. i do have a video up, where i play HSB on a heavy ass 12 string. hope this makes you stfu.
Exactly. That's what I pretty much say. Plus the person sounds so immature when they just throw insults at people instead of legitimate, opinionative responses. There's no need for name calling, you know.
Actually you do cut them off. Cobain played it like that when he played it live before his death. Also the flanger is spot on. So no offense but go elsewhere with your incorrect opinions.
wow. great job i cant wait to hear more. i want to learn how to play guitar but im not sure where to start i have a guitar but im not sure what to practice. anyone have any advice?
Wow i cant get over how beautiful and how talented Louisa is, what a great singer. And nice new drum kit, thats like 5 or 6 cymbals lol i only have 3. The guitar and bass are great, and i guess thats all to say, great band, great song, great collab.
Great Colab - The sound is so clear on this end. Really good job for all involved. 5 *'s for sure. You can hear all the instruments perfectly. Great Job!!
yea i know ur old set, didnt even have a highhat cymbal it was just a pad, and everything wasnt up to your skill level, electric drums are expensive haha i got a set myself
Instruments sound beatiful. Singer's pitches were just about spot-on, though she enunciated the words a little too well for the song :P. But that's not a problem at all, not everyone wants to mumble everything like Kurt.
Thanks Dark! Glad you enjoyed watching it! We certainly enjoyed making it. Well...not so much doing all the mixing and video editing...but playing it, we certainly enjoyed! ;)
I think it sounds amazing! Especially the singer and drummer. However, I think it sounds a little empty with one guitarist, especially at the solo at around 2:56 . Just a thought though, I think it might be better with another guitarist
Thanks Tom! Well, it's exactly the same speed as the original. You can overlay the two exactly. Maybe it was just my out of time drumming, made it seem fast! ;)
Hey Exit! Well, even though Shane was the only guitarist, he did all the guitar parts himself. So there was nothing missing from what the original song had. Glad you liked it! :) And I especially like to hear that people think my drumming was good! I get entirely too much hate some times! ;)
I think it's fairly close to the orignal volume of the drums. But I might be wrong. Since I did the audio mix this time, it's hard for me to not give my own instrument a bit of a boost of the volume. ;) Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much! :) The next track is a Three Days Grace song. But it's funny you mention Seether, because on the way home from work the other day I heard a Seether song and I was thinking, "This would be a great song for a collab!" So who knows, maybe we will get to a Seether song sometime soon! :)
I am a big fan of Nirvana . I hope they see this it is well done and a tribute to a man who left this world to soon. Thank's so much for sharing your talent. Best Colab ever.
Great work. Perfect on all aspects. Do you all play along to the original or do you provide a drum track, then guitars and bass build on that and then the singer sings on the instrument's tracks? Just curious.
All the musicians play along to the original mp3, and then the vocalist will sing along to the instrument track. That's typically how we do it. It's easiest that way. :)
Thanks Zeratul! Well, right now a Three Days Grace is next up. Audio is done, just waiting on the video track. But maybe we'll get to Teen Spirit sometime in the future! :) Thanks for watching! Glad you liked the video!
hey Eric, love the way this turned out man! you rocked on the drums dude big time, i like the camera angle you used as well! thanks for taking the reigns on the audio AND video this time :) ROCK ON DUDE! talk to ya soon...
Looks like version 8 0 6(...or was it 7?) was the winner then! ;) I need to change the angle so it gets the WHOLE kit. I was missing another floor tom and the hihat in that angle! More experimentation! Thanks for agreeing to do the guitar parts! You know I don't trust anybody else to collab with! ;)
Thanks Tenson! Yeah, she knocked it out of the park, I think. I hope everyone else agrees. People can be a bit picky when it comes to people covering Nirvana stuff. :) Thanks for watching!
Wow, this worked so well to have Louisa on the vocals. At first I was a bit apprehensive, but now I realize that without reason. Great cover! Keep 'em coming!
Hey Ventris! Thanks for the comment. Yeah, we wanted to do something a bit different than a carbon copy of the original, so we went with kind of a hybrid version between the Evanescence version and the original Nirvana version. The Evanescence is completely acoustic and features a female vocalist. So we kept the original arrangement, and left the female vocalist to see what we came up with, and the results were very good, I think. :) Thanks for commenting!
Haha! Yup! Only thing pending is the video. But I think I might redo my drum track for it, because I'm not very happy with it. But then again, I'm never happy with my drum tracks. :)
Thanks Takuma! I feel that it's kind of a hybrid version of the two. Evanescence's version was completely acoustic with only the vocalist and guitar, and it differed quite a bit from the original. We kept the element of the female vocalist, but kept the arrangement of the original Nirvana song. So I feel that this has a unique character beside the two. Glad you liked it! :)
