I have a question about CATIA V5 surfacing vs. PRO/Surface which is the basic surfacing tools that come with PRO/Engineer.
I have found that surfaces defined with 3 datum curves in PRO/Engineer are hard to work with because the meshing seems to become "degenerate" as it converges on the point or corner of the surface patch. For whatever reason the PRO/E internal surface representation seems to want quad-patch surfaces.
Does CATIA do 3-curve surfaces flawlessly, or workarounds needed?
The resulting model is far from class-A surface quality. The program is great but the modeler don't use the proper tools. The transition between the neighbouring patches below the handle is poor. It's way better to use a single Blend surface between the main body and the handle.
i think it is because of that i am a beginner @ catia so i didnt get too much from this? how the inital pic is transfered? whic module is it? some body pls help me, thnx
@firataydineyup It can be done in the GSD module : 1) Create an extruded surface, 2) Apply a material, 3) Change display style to shading with materials, 4)Open the material (DBclick on the icon in the tree), go to the rendering tab and then the texture sub-tab, 5) Make sure Type is set to Image 6) Change the image to what you want, deselect repeat u and v, scale/flip if necessary 7) Please, check my channel if you still confused!
con you please do a step by step tutorial on a simple shape teaching how to use this freestyle technique, starting very basic from what workbench /application tool to use etc please please it is for a college project.
i completed my project this march and i have been out of using catia. it's good to have a look at how catia is working. i really miss this application.
But that's not what Catia V5 is about. In V5 you are using parametric and associativity to create surface models. Creating isolatet surface like shown here is a method used in the 90's.

what kind of curves were used in the begining of the video? it looked like they had handles on each point where you could adjust them???

Could someone tell me how do you convert surface-design into solid body??? I know it has to be closed, but what next? PLZ

no it hasn't to be closed, and u need to look for a command to in case of a closed surface stitch or consolidate, and opne suraced thickening.
