@SkemeKOS Jeet Kune Do is very little grappling and "Clinch" techniques, because Bruce Lee was just getting into that side of the Martial Art before he died.
@SkemeKOS Yes I know it didn't stop growing, hence why I have been training in Jeet Kune Do for about 4 years now, but Bruce didn't have all the grapples and clinch's because Bruce thought, why have 1million things when you can have 1. Thats why Bruce didn't go to far into the grappling side etc.
Well actually he believed in being prepared for anything - to flow like water. In order to flow you must be able to adapt to all areas of combat and be familiar with all styles. He didnt think one way of fighting was better than more ways of fighting.
And besides, he trained quite a lot of grappling with Gene Lebel and was a black belt in Judo. I would say Bruce was pretty skilled in clinch/grappling fighting.
@mathewclarke96 JKD is like hand writing. Even though we both write English. Your English will be different from mine. There are some JKD people that are heavy grapplers.
@vamtheanomaly But, JKD did not have much grappling in it. Bruce only started getting into that side of the fighting just before he died. There are people out there advertising Filipino Stick Fighting and other martial arts, and claiming it to be JKD, when it blaintly is not.
@mathewclarke96 Im not trying to be funny or mean mat but if you didnt get what I said then you are missing the whole point of the concept. No two JKD fighters are EVER the same.For example if someone threaten to defend themselves from you with boxing you pretty much expect punching attacks.With JKD you dont know what the guy will / can do.The core of LEES jkd didnt have grappling as it was wing chun, true but Bruce expanded on that.
i think it wud be the best is, to learn other art than just jkd, bruce always did say its better to learn other arts than just 1, because each and every style has a weakness. jkd is gr8 though,!
Taekwondo is the latest and most aggressive martial art. I thing JKD was perfect for Bruce Lee only. I have never seen a JKD fighter like Bruce Lee. All arts are not perfect for all. I'm the big example. I learned karate. Once I noticed that my kick is so strong. Then admitted to TKD. Now it's perfect for me.
@MarrickFait Have you ever sparred with the spinning back-kick? Have you not noticed how your bodies momentum is not transferred into your opponent because your body-weight is not being thrown in that direction, instead you are just spinning on the spot. Compare this with the sidekick. The momentum of your body is transferred in the same direction as the kick... Thus you are throwing your full body-weight at someone in the form of a kick. The kick at least twice if not three times as powerful...
No, there is a difference between centrifugal force, applied with the hip and torque than just the torque and the weight behind the kick. His kick, spinning back kick, was horribly placed and he actually could have hurt himself from it.
JKD is not a martial art. Think of it more as a philosophy, or a set of guidelines without any specific form. It certainly was not derived from Muay Thai. The centerline focus of Wing Chun is incorporated and all of the flashy moves and forms were taken out to form a set of self defense guidelines, such as not kicking above the waist to avoid grappling, etc.
@Unlucky13Lucky more of a spiritual enlightenment along with near perfect physice to prepare more mentally ..using the effieciency rather than flash yes but remember you are the way .and along with being honest true and real with oneself almost anything can be plausible you'd be surprised ..bruce lee said he was only the begining he expected for out of ppl ..if he saw this im sure he'd frown ..n the kick boxer does look more fluent more of what jkd is n he is being somewhat simplistic
sry but i cant agree with you suzuki only if in 2 years there will be very good fight in mma and not in this ugly cage in ufc. the only 3 fighters in mma wich are great and exciting 2 watch are fedor emilianenko, mirko cro cop and wanderlai silva. but we will see
@TbKBFighter hey man, royce gracie is the father of mixed martial arts. all that JKD really is, is the advancement of muay thai and kick boxing. bruce lee (a martial artist) saw what was wrong with the traditional muay thai and changed it. it is still a martial art. and UFC is just the next step in the mixed martial arts tradition. give it a couple more years and we will have fights like they used to be, like PRIDE, and DREAM. but dont bad mouth the UFC. it works
@suzukiguyatx125 JKD is not the advancement of muay thai and kickboxing. If it is an "advancement" of anything its an advancement of Traditional martial arts. Though JKD is mainly wing chun, fencing, and boxing.
Nothing in this video even slightly resembled Jeet kune do, the "JKD" kid did not even have his proper Bi Jong "ready stance" and he ran around too much and hopped around, exerting energy on useless movement, without keeping the idea of attack in mind, the kicks were not anything JKD related, there was no decent parrying, and JKD attacks, no use of ABC, PIA, HIA, or ABD. Which if you dont know what any of that is, that proves the point that you do not truly understand the philosophy behind jkd.
LoL not real JKD and not real KICK BOXING. JKD is MMA without the rules...i dont see no ground fighting...i dont see no STRONG FOUNDATION...i dont see SHIT in this vid. Where's the Muay Thai in JKD? Super sloppy. No Jiujitsu Ground Fighting in jkd, No Muay Thai Kick boxing in jkd...where's the Kali Empty Hand? 95 percent of JKD vidz on youtube are fake as fuck and this is one of them. Wanna see JKD? watch UFC...JKD with lots of rules. Bruce Lee is the father of MMA.
@BlackOutFX ummm? bruce lee never said JKD had any rules, he even said it has dirty tricks , its not made for UFC. its for urban street fighting. Not for some entertaiment martial arts show that mostly have sophcore sex on the floor :)

Stop throwing the back-kicks. Side-kick is more powerful.

Don't contract only expand. Only strike when your opponent contracts without kicking.

@ThomasWinkworth
Did you just hear yourself?
Side kick is not as powerful as a spinning back kick.
Though if you are implying that HIS spinning back kick has horrible frm and that a side kick from him would most likely be better...

@ThomasWinkworth
Yes.
A spinning back kick are more powerful than a side kick.
I have never said it wasn't strong in itself (side kick).
If you preform a spinning back kick abnnouncly, it will have about 3x more power.
