Thats about the same price for a burger at a propper restaurant in Norway. A McDonalds meal is half the price (85kr or ¥1000). So when I go to Japan, I can expect the same pricerange (or cheaper) :)

@Zeoone yeah its from serendipity 3 in NYC! they have the 1000$ golden opulence sundae with real eatable gold shavings on it, you have to order it 48 hours in advance. I went with my dad but we both just got the frozen hot chocolate for 8$ much more reasonable and uniquely delicious.

@TheLivingDeadOne It's expensive due to the meat. Yes, it's still expensive by Japanese standards. It's hard to say, as it's a combination of both. In Japan, fast food places are not bad by any means. McDonalds is even nice! Try the shaka-shaka chicken.

Funny that people are tripping out about the cost of the burger but will defend to the death the American health care system. Much of what Americans eat is engineered to be ultra cheap/tasty on the front end. Just wait until you get the Med bills though. Cancer, bypass surgeries etc. If Americans paid the prices the rest of the world did, we'd eat this crap much less often and would be healthier for it. The beef is expensive because of Japan's strict meat regulations. From what I heard those cows get pampered and that's what reflects the outrageous price of a simple burger.

If I remember correctly, you have to spend a bit more money in Japanes to get stuffed than in Europe.
