  • The sega game gear kick the ass of the old game boys..

  • @Cortarelcuello I used to play Spiderman vs. the Kingpin all the time on my game Gear, at home with the charger of course because 6 AA batteries is insane!

  • Best Mortal Kombat game, on any system.

  • 1 frame per second

  • me and Dad like mortal kombat :D

  • I played MK1 on the Gameboy. This looks so good in comparison.

  • hahaha you're awesome man, keep it up.

  • I dont know why but anthing from the 90's thats hand held depresses me,lol

  • i put my calander 1994 lawl

  • I still remember the blood code for MK. 212 Down Up Start. I remember that from way back when I was fifteen. Wow, memories..........

  • Why does everyone always say Gameboy games are black and white?? Gameboy only had a few shades of green, not black and white.

  • hahah i remember having the game gear back in the days as i remember they didnt really had good games dont know why this version played well back in the days

  • 7 people can go fuck themselves

  • what bit on this game???

  • @apek334 game gear was 8 bit...... i think

  • @apek334 8 bit

  • @apek334 ...like the master system.

  • lol internet explorer

  • You need to review Riddick Bowe's Boxing for the game gear, maybe you'll see Riddick grow a third arm and punch you with it too!

  • @Zombie1Boy Inever heard of such game.I heard of Mike Tyson's Punch Out (1987).

  • @Pimpczar2011 ok um babilities isn't a word and in mortal kombat 2 there is no kintaro its kitana u dipshit so if u want to hold a debate sound more mature or turn on yer spellcheck

  • @jfetherboy Ok so first off, no, "babalities" isn't a word. However, neither is "babality" but Midway made it a word for their game so Pimpczar had to pluralize it somehow. Secondly, Kintaro IS in the GG version of MKII. He's not a playable character but he is a boss. Which is what Pimpczar said. So I suggest you learn to read and check your sources before you go into a troll mode be a dick.

  • @ILMAGO07 Thanks 4 defending my position on this subject. That beeyotch is critizing me about a 17yr old 2D fighting game has 2 be somewhere n the age group of 08 or 09yrs old.

  • @jfetherboy If you don't know who Kintaro is, you shouldn't be a part of any debates involving Mortal Kombat.

  • yes i remeber the tv hook up thing i was there i was born in 1976 i still own my game gear.

  • The Gameboy version is far better(framerate, controls, babilities, music). The only things the GG version has gong for it is that you can perform Scorpion's leg grab move and you can battle Kintaro.

  • I have both of those systems but how do I take them both with me at the same time

  • i just bought this & streets of rage ;)

  • hope this gets on 3ds virtual console

  • "revies", "Mortal Combat 2" ...what's up with the typos, Inecom?

  • I attempted to play the original MK on my Genesis and it is nearly unplayable now. The MK series has not aged well.

  • @codymorton1 I dont know what your talking about, just recently I got a Genesis and bought MK for it and played better then when I was a kid, maybe you havent aged well ;-P, I know i havent when it comes to playing sports :-D

  • @f00tbol What are you talking about. They are terrible on consoles! I own an arcade MAME and its playable on that but terrible on the consoles.

  • @codymorton1 Maybe an emulation is closer to the original arcade version but for a kid back in the day it was an awesome game to have in the Genesis/SNES, plus its more playable than a lot of the other fighting games of the time, we dont expect a direct translation of an arcade to a 16bit system because its not really possible, but to still accomplish porting it to one is still an achievement. At least I enjoy kicking ass with Sub-Zero in my Genesis/SNES versions as flawed as they are...:-)

  • @f00tbol FLAWLESS VICTORY!!!!

  • @codymorton1 I played the SNES version on my friend's console and it actually handled pretty well. Not the best, but pretty well.

  • I loved the gamegear!!! Whats interesting is that sega's game gear handheld system had a backlight much before nintendo's handheld systems. Nintendo didn't have a backlight for their handheld system until the gameboy SP.

  • I have a game gear that has been in my house since the 90s :P

  • The graphics are actually awesome. Its just a really, really poor screen.

  • Woah! U defend the Nomad and the 32x and put down the gamegear O_o

  • This game helped me thru many hours of "dropping kids at the pool". God Bless Game Gear and MK

  • Has he reviewed the snes version? I can't seem to find it

  • Mine game gear is in almost perfect condition.

  • MK II is very good on the Sega Game Gear and Nintendo Game Boy but i like the Game Boy version better it was much faster but none the less the GG port is still awesome and fun

  • can you do mortal kombat 1, 2, and 3 for the game boy

  • I am glad I got my game gear I Love it. I didn't have one as a kid but wanted one. I wish CGR liked it more they are super cool.

  • at first i thought you had one of the sega nomad and i was like Awesome, someone else has it and now im like :( lolz

  • Pure classic!!!!!!!

  • First time watching one your videos....very impressive....your voice....very radio like.....I"M Subscribing!

  • I wasn't around when the sega game gear came out but I know everything about it :D

  • I was ten when this game came out and got a lot of use out of my trusty gamegear. OMFG how many hours did I spend playing mortal combat 2? at the time it was so bad ass. no more blood code.

  • lol scorpion did his spear move three times in a row and uppercut. what a cheap bastard

  • In my opinion every console is awesome if you have good games for it

  • the mortal kombat 2 is really best in the originall sega no this stupid console

  • Wow Mk2 Looks terrible on this, lots of frame skipping

  • i had this Game!

  • it looks like the gameboy version, i mean identical game only in color

  • I had Mortal Kombat II on the SNES back in the day (one of my favorite games ever) and bought it for the 32X when available. There was an improvement in graphics on the 32X over the SNES, but for audio, Mortal Kombat II on the SNES sounded better than the 32X. Pretty sad that the SNES had better audio than the 32X, also no S-Video on the 32X. Come on Sega, what was wrong with you people?

I'm pretty sure I had this for the Saturn as well, and now I have it on PSN!

  • I had an SNES back in the day. A friend of mine had a Genesis. I respected him and would play his Genesis back then. When you are kids you do not think about the fact that each system is different. All i cared about was if the game was playable. Gaming was not about graphics in the 90's to some. These days PS3 and Xb360 fan boys are cut throat. It is quite sad to see that things have gotten this bad. This port looks decent for the time.

  • @thevideogamenerd100 I KNOW, RIGHT?

  • @T3hPwnageBAM I'm 12 and luv teh classics so much!!! I don't see y everybody hates them so much

  • I can never forget the Sega Game Gear at my girlfriends house playing Batman Returns and having the batteries last about 1 hour. Seemed so much fresher than Game Boy.

  • Someone said their iPhone was amazing as u can watch tv on it, I said my game gear did that in 1991. Shut them up lol

  • @e4ans itstill can to this day,

watch gamester81's review on the game gear

  • @MrMMO97 In the UK the analogue signal is getting phased out so I sold mine as it wont work soon. We are switching over to just digital so anything like this will be useless :-(

  • @e4ans ooooh

i didnt know you lived in the UK

  • I still have my Game Gear with Streets of Rage, Sonic and Xmen. It was a pain that it use 6 AA batteries for just a few hours, back in the days i loved this handheld but it was hard to find the games and more money for batteries xD.

  • Batteries? C'mon! Never heard of adaptors? Sheesh!

  • xbox360 fanboys must be 10 years old, they are worthless.

  • i remember i used to play this so much the back started smoking .... good times ... gooood times

  • Actually the vid and the sound is pretty good. Doesn't the game gear have a 3.5 mm headphone jack so you could hook it up to speakers? Try that next time if ur not satisfied

  • Crap! I'm already wearing a flannel shirt.

  • It was my favorite game for my Game Gear.

  • That is quite impressive for the Game Gear.

  • THE EXCHANGE I SEE YOU GO THERE!

  • Why review III before II?

  • I still own a Gamegear my father got when it was released(it is mine now) and I still like it :) imho it was ahead of its time and I loved playing it.

  • Oh damn nostalgia overload. I remember playing this on the bus ride to school!

  • My God!!!! I still have the blood code for the Game Gear version of Mortal Kombat!!!! 2 1 2 Down Up Start.

  • Looks like the SGG could fit good game content

  • Dam i miss the good old days

  • I must be one of the few lucky people my age(17) who grew up playing Sega Genisis games. I was about 4 when I first played mortal kombat for the genisis but I remember sitting around watching my big brother and dad play it. Also remember the CDI and going to my uncles house and playing his N64. Good times

  • seems like sega is always ahead of its time but they are never very successful. dreamcast, saturn, game gear

  • and the best version of mortal kombat is ultiate mortal ombat for the super nintendo

  • Shyruken! oh wait, wrong game.

  • I owned and played both the original Game Boy and Game Gear back in the 1990s. It is true that Game Boy games (especially those actually made by Nintendo) were superiorly designed compared to Game Gear games. However, the Game Gear was EPIC back then because the games were actually in COLOR, and that made all the difference to many of us.

  • 1:21 Scorpion come back OWNAGE sorry mark

    1:12 for the whole fight.

    pure comeback OWNAGE!

  • I hate all the Xbox fanboy shit on here. Just watch the video, people have opinions. Some people think this is shite, others love it. I play from Spectrum VX+ to 360, thats 1982-2005 so you can't hate me for any generation :D

  • @HallowHorror if everyone just watched the video there would only be like 3 comments

  • finally not a NEW game. a classic reivew. more classics!

  • The game gear was pretty terrible. Yeah it was neat for being a color hand held, but it was so big and the games were terrible.

  • @MikeReiner and it weighted like an 18 wheeler.

Game gear was a horrible console, I'm not with mark this time, overall my friends and I preferred the gameboy with it's black and white non retro illuminated screen (play it loud series ftw) because, a) it spent a quarter the batteries you had to spend on a genesis and b) the games where tunned down versions of genesis games with little to no appeal, the only good game I remember for it was the lion king, that was actually really impressive.

  • @MikeReiner and it weighted like an 18 wheeler.

  • @javierortiz82 Yeah, I actually had one. The only games we had for it were Sonic 2 and some other one. I had it plugged in to AC power at all times because I couldn't keep live batteries in the damn thing. Requires 6 batteries and has like a third the battery life of a Gameboy, whoo.

  • Why don't you use an emulator or something for video capture?

  • YAY!!!! you bought that at the exchange!!!!

  • Where is my Vectrex version of MKII?

  • the first game gear review?

  • i have the gamegear my dad gave it to me but i couldnt find cartridges anywhere øωø

  • I love the intro music :)

  • yeah, this game was awful... still played it a lot, but only out of necessity and the fact that I was determined to get my $40 worth out of the damn thing

  • Hahaha, sounds like a DOS game. Cool!!!

  • i had this game back in the day. i hated it. this video bring back painful memories lol.

  • woo yay for 6 AA batteries that last a total of 4 hours

  • @godofthunder9 Exactly! The ridiculous battery consumption of the Game Gear negated its value as a portable game system. The only way to not go broke was to plug the sucker up using the AC adapter, which limited your portable gaming experience to about 6 to 10 feet!

  • I was a proud owner of an Atari Lynx II back when Game Gear was around. Even though graphically it was superior to the Game Gear it suffered from Atari's greedy proprietary practices such as not allowing third party developers to make games for thier systems. So sadly no Mortal Kombat. I remember even then that the Game Gear screen looked like crap compared even with Gameboy's black and green screen.

  • gamegear was so awesome back in the day.

  • Get this pre-owned from Amazon via points2shop. Click on the link on my page.

  • The GameGear was cool, but the Gameboy was just way more fun. Long Live CGR!!

  • Why didn't you just use an emulator?

  • Shinobi II: The Silent Fury is more than enough reason to buy a gg and the game I just stated. :P Of Course most will just use emulation anymore.

  • Nobody really *needs* a GameGear, but they sure are cool to have.....with an AC adapter, at least!

  • I have it for my Mega Drive :D

  • KEEP THE MORTAL KOMBAT REVIEWS COMING!!!!THEY'RE AWESOME!!!!

  • Wow! MORE GAME GEAR REVIEWS!

  • Suck it up and get a Vectrex.

  • i got this and my gamegear for $2!

  • Hehehe,the title rhymes.

  • While I appreciate your dedication to authenticity I would say that this is probably the one time you should use an emulator. Emulation for Master System/Game Gear is fantastic these days. You aren't going to have problems with it.

All you need to do is show the cartridge and say for quality purposes you will be filming it off your monitor.

Honestly, I am fine with the way this looks but it doesn't do it justice at the same time. ... I guess consoles have their own cons as well though..

  • Great review man, awesome to see you supporting the Game Gear : )

  • I don't have time to look through all the CGR videos but have you ever reviewed the Nomad? Seems like it'd be better to play the Genesis version on that then the Game Gear version...

  • @Chazzi27 But the point was to review the Game Gear port. If he was going to review the Genesis port then why bother with a Nomad when a Genesis would do better?

  • I actually got this game for Master System. It's apparently the exact same game.

  • my eyes ohhh my eyes i can't see this shit

  • Once I was walking to my local game store, while on the way, I found a box, standing near some trash cans, with a big label saying "Game gear". It had 4 game gears, and 4 games with it in the box. It also had a SNES in it, with some awesome games. I so lucky :3

  • I have this for the gameboy and it's pretty mutch the same but in black and white

  • you could always use the TV receiver to record with composite =)

  • Nice one, lol. :)

  • the graphics and sound are better on other platforms like arcade platform

  • I disagree the game gear is a great system to own and mortal kombat 2 for it is well worth it and you could get them cheap

  • i told santa to bring me one but he didnt -.-

  • The Punching sound effects reminds me of the gameboy version.

  • whats with all these sega games

  • Mark, couldn't you just emulate games for the Game Gear and get footage that way?

  • @MoonshadowCaz it seems he is all about authenticity, and amongst other things actually paying for the game. im sure hes contemplated it before though.

  • @MrJesseFisher That is something I admire about his work. At the same time, though, I doubt it would hurt the overall quality of the review.

  • @MoonshadowCaz It's "MORTAL KOMBAT II for Sega Game Gear review", not "MORTAL KOMBAT II ROM for Sega Game Gear Emulator review".

  • @InjectedWithAPoison I'm just saying the game would show up a lot better if he used that method. It might also be less of a hassle for him.

  • @MoonshadowCaz But that was never the point of his reviews - Mark want's us to see how it really looks - you can try the ROM yourself ;]

  • people who are too young or too stupid too appreciate old games and systems need to shut the hell up...

  • You should hit up atarix777 and ask him about gettin that badboy RGB out modded :)

  • This way you can beat MK 2 :)

  • probably 'cuz that game gear's capacitors are f**ked....and need to be replaced (plenty of youtube vids on that subject).

shoot...I need to repair my ol' game gear...and I think I have MK2 as well.

  • i still have this game on the game gear!!! fond memories

  • @HeWhoFightsDragons Respect games and their consoles. Go play some new virtual FPS piece of crap.

  • @HeWhoFightsDragons why dont you stop trolling, go play your stupid call of duty, and leave this videa to people who acually have a respect for awesome classic games

  • @HeWhoFightsDragons Back in the days Nintendo and Sega fans didnt like each other but they also respected each other. Nowadays the X360 fanbois ruined the whole community...

  • @Asgarat lol i think it was the 360 and PS3 fanboys are both gay. Just play on what u like.

  • @Asgarat same with ps3 fanboys, they all ruined it

  • @ultimatebman Nah, it was those notorious Vectrex fanboys.

  • @Asgarat you're right about fanboys, because most of them are 10 year olds

  • @T3hPwnageBAM You are right about that because I remember when I was 10 I was a huge fanboy & now that I'm a little older I look back and think it was kinda stupid.

  • @T3hPwnageBAM i agree myself with the console wars thing little 10 year olds bug out about every thing

  • @T3hPwnageBAM

    you'd be surprised.

  • @Asgarat get a life nerd...

  • @Asgarat Nonsense. Fanboys are, have been and always will be the same: Angry and deluded.

  • @Asgarat ya i agree, i have ps3, and i play with my psn, and when i came over to my cousin's house,

i was playing live and alot of the 360 people are really cocky.

    no respect for them.

  • @Asgarat the funny thing is that its american. i'm american too but its funny that it started a bad horrible conflict like in the middle east

  • @Asgarat You mean as much as PS3 players bitch about owning Xbox?

  • @Asgarat FOREAL. you sir speak the truth.

  • @Asgarat

Words can not describe the pure respect that I feel for you right now. Must be all of the FPS'

  • @Asgarat I agree, and that's coming from an Xbox 360 fanboy.

  • @Asgarat I don't think things changed a lot. There were some fans that respected each other just like there are fans today that respect each other. But most fanboys are just annoying, immature little shitheads who have no life. And that was the case back in the 90s, 2000s, and even now. Nothing really has changed, fanboys will always be fanboys.

  • @Asgarat To be honest theres more fanboy hatred due to there being more gamers. Back in the days gamers got shunned by everyone thus all gamers stuck with each other.

Now everyone has a console the general amount of them have to mouth off at each other.

  • @Asgarat I dunno I got picked on for having a Genesis and Playstation in school. I think people have always been bastards.

  • @Asgarat

even when PlayStation came out in the mid 90's i was a fan of it but i still wished i had the N64 or Sega Dreamcast because of the games that looked very awesome on it
