  • I was also there at the shut-down on 11/2 (and on 12/12, where we had almost as many people), and I affirm there were probably 20,000 people there. I'm not a crowd checker either, but I have been to a lot of A's games.... the A's draw 10,000 people on a good night these days, sadly. And those 10,000 people are a LOT smaller than the crowd that took the Port. When I read in the SF Chronicle that there were 3,000 people there, I felt a bit of me die. What a sad lie.

  • @Fatal616 I am from Oakland and was driving by and it seemed like the entire route was bloacked off in advance by police barricades and detours. But protesting the port didn't really make much sense to me either. Theses OWS groups should come together and protest the offices of the interest groups, PAC's, and wealthy individuals (like the Koch brothers) who were given license to buy our elections through unlimited secret donations of soft money under the citizens united blunder of a decision.

" well sammaggie234 here's why: Oakland and that area were key in the 60s-70s movements, most started there, but more important that was where many violent confrontations happened. Oakland is right now the Concord-Lexington or the Boston Masacre of the 1770s. Its a historical movement there also with record breaking numbers of people like FIFTY THOUSAND PEOPLE!

You missed the police welcoming back at the north plaza of the camp and the Travel Aid Occupation. My personal view on the occupy the travel aid was for winter quarters to bridge it from winter to spring. The police stayed out of camp because they knew there would be hell to pay if they broke the camp again forcefully and violently from the unions

From the moment you step into the encampment there is an acceptance. People are friendly, people say excuse me, or do you need this or that...people who in the regular world would not give you the time of day. Occupy is a Revolution and it's just in it's beginning stage.

  • Inaccurate reporting of numbers by the newsish companies was without question on purpose. No good corporate citizen will state anything truthful about the size of the occupy events. That would be tantamount to poking oneself in the eye with a stick on purpose.

    If those events were seen to be of a material size in any way, it might imply that something's dreadfully wrong in America. No newsish company will imply that!

    I have a problem with the term "class warfare", as there are members of the "upper" classes who totally disagree with the corrupt system that is in place in America. So for the sake of justice, the war against corruption can not be a war against rich people who have a conscience. However, talking PERCENTAGES, it looks as if the MAJORITY of rich people support exploiting the lower classes at any cost and without mercy.   • @taxiuniversum The Young TURDS support OWS a group that has caused vanalism across the country and Europe. There have been numerous sexual assults and rapes IN THE OWS CAMPS. There have been 100's of arrests for drugs and public intoxication. The TURDS Support them 100%. As for France the Liberals are always wanting the USA to become more European.   • @taxiuniversum to make your point a bit stronger, if you use logic reasoning when it comes to something like Reagan's economic policy. understand it was sold on having a "trickle" down effect for the middle and lower income brackets. Notice i said trickle instead of stream, flood, downpour, torrent etc. by using logic that means wealth in the economic flow of capitalism will not only remain at the top, it continue to accrue/multiple/gather because it can only to trickle down.

Even many "normal", i.e. average income people know what you can do with MONEY: - No, other than if you are a very hard-to-find saint, you do not let ANY of your money trickle down to those below. Instead, you LET YOUR MONEY WORK FOR YOU. Rich people are usually even better at that than the average Joe, or they have their specialists for that. So money in the hand of the rich tends to create an exponential curve, having the rich devour cash like a black hole.

  • @Bellita1 Yes Reagan did bring the country back, by expanding government, raising, taxes, raising the debt ceiling 17 times, expanding the military budget, and legalizing 2.6 million illegal immigrants.I dont disagree about trickle down because it worked. its just that 25 years later everything is different. so i would say trickle down has worked until now. BTW my opinion, socialism cant work and doomed to fail in a society that has any amount of capitalist qualities. so its not an option. sheep

The 1% elite of banksters and corporations started their assault on ordinary citizens by taking over governments.  Industrial production was shifted to the far-east which has led to China becoming a major superpower.
