Ok, I sang this song as a Junior in high school. This is fucking Amazing and off the scale in vocal quality, phrasing, texture, tambre, and execution. No more comments needed ever.
well his voice isnt particularly good imo, the only time it shines is when he belts or goes powerful or whatever idk the technical terms but ya his voice is just average sounding
@DavidDavila13 im calling it like it is, idgaf who he is, his voice is kinda ugly, im not saying he cant sing or he cant hit them mariah carey notes but his actual voice isnt that cute. you dont have to agree and you dont have to call me an idiot and theres nothing wrong with me, actually, its my own opinion so back the fuck off my cooter.
@DurwardMatt haha because i dont think his voice is nice? no, i can think whatever i want. im not denying his ABILITY which is obvious but his voice isnt cute in my opinion and i dont get why you give half a fuck so instead of wasting your time calling me an idiot because of MY OPINION why dont you go get off to his voice or something
@greekcypriot14 everyones voice is unique, actually and once again i am not denying or questioning his incredible ability, but his voice isnt particularly pretty to me and thats my opinion obviously so hop off my goods
Many people get this as the first song to learn when they start taking voice lessons. As a byproduct of that, it is often stuck with the stigma that it is a song merely for beginners. It is a simple tune, but a gorgeous one for all levels of singing from novice - Pavarotti.
I'm not a big opera fan but due to lack of radio that I liked while working in Puerto Rico a few years ago I bought a Luciano Pavarotti CD at a Wal*Mart down there. This song was my favorite on the 20th Century Millenium Collection. It sounded so beautiful. I would replay it over and over again. It sounds so sad and yet so beautiful.
Pavarotti, Pavarotti, Pavarotti, che cuore, che anima, che bello, immenso, delicato, meraviglioso, ti voglio bene, fino a quando ci incontriamo di nuovo, ora riposano in pace (RIP), giovanni
I remember over half the class in my college voice class singing this to get their final grade!!! All these years later, I now see that a masterpiece must be hung in an appropriate place to shine the way it is supposed to.
I am 14 years old, and recently took my grade 8 singing, and got a merit. Despite this song being technically easier than the grade 8 pieces, it's how you sing it that matters, and shows what a master he really was.
@SongsJerome You do realise that a) this song is in Italian and Pavarotti was Italian. b) the word for word literal translation of Caro mio ben doesn't specify gender at all c) don't you think if it was written solely for a woman to perform, i.e. Se tu m'ami... Pavarotti would have known this and probably not done it?
The first 2 bars are very similar to the 3rd and 4th bars in "We Shall Overcome." (Deep in my heart, I do believe, we shall overcome some day). Funny how music never dies.
In college in voice class our final test was to sing "CARO mio ben' by memory in italian. I was the only in class to do it. I got a "D" skipped class to much, couldn't handle the other crap in the class.LOL
@catjoox31 It means: ¨My dear beloved one¨.I will translate the song for you: My dear beloved one, believe me at least; without you my heart languishes.
Your faithful one yearns for you always. Stop being so stern with me , cruel one!
@Lifeisincredible911 Hey pal, I was not trying to be rude or a dick, it's just that some arias a guy cannot get away with singing. But If I offended you, I was not trying to, I apologize.
@pakvasevigreste Have you ever heard countertenor Nicholas Spanos's version of Caro mio ben? You might want to listen to it for comparison. It's very beautiful too and very expressive. It's great too. My favourite version.
kanye: Pavarotti, you sing real nice, and I'll let you get back to what you were doing in a second. But Andrea Bocelli is one of the best opera singers of all time.

@emerson24 Wow I'm learning this for voice lessons too! it seems like this is the song for voice lesson beginners. even though I started singing last year...
@sadejade93 it takes time to learn the technique properly. If you cut corners, it will sound sloppy and you can get into bad habits that are hard to kick later. I also took voice for opera, I am a tenor, and the trills and the addins are definetly fun to do, but basics first! I know.. it sucks lol!
@sadejade93 Because a) he's Pavarotti, and b) it's for stylistic effect; and c) it gets a fuller sound for high notes. But you have to know how to hit notes lightly and without effort before darkening them. :)
I'm personally not a huge fan of this version actually, i feel it's just a tad to slow and i think there should really be a glissando from the C to the F @ 1:53, just makes it truly bel canto in my opinion
but i'm definitely not saying it's bad, its pavarotti!
