i have a 3-4 inch(10 cm) white/red oranda she is a female laying so manny eggs but no male i have only one goldfish and a pleco, i order a male black oranda i hope its a male so they can breed would be nice.
You mentioned goldfish arnt 4 begginers but ive got 3 in a 25L tank and there doing great even after 2 years theve had no deases or illnesses and there happy fish. And im a begginer
@eukanuba93 Water changes. I do a partial water change (about 15%) EVERY DAY. People don't realize that so long as you have stable water chemistry, water changes are GOOD for your tank. You are not damaging the bacteria, you are simply removing waste.
If that doesn't help, I have had good experiences with UV filters. They with help out with bacterial blooms.
@zuliciousjump wow 15% everyday?? well i just started up a 20 gallon today. so when do you think its a good time to put in my fishes, because i just have them in the other tank with no filter
@eukanuba93 You need to return your fish and read about tank cycling. Preparing a tank can take up to three months, because the goal is to grow beneficial bacteria in your filter media. Do some research!
@zuliciousjump i use Tetra SafeStart to reduce new tank syndrome. It enables immediate aquarium start. which contains specially grown live nitrifying bacteria that biologically activates aquariums n is proven to safely reduce toxic ammonia and nitrite. and i also use ammonia n chlorine eliminator n nitrate minus for my aquarium. i hope i have done right, so far my goldfish is doing fine, its already 2 weeks and 4 days in the aquarium. but my guppy did not survive, maybe i overfed them.

@zuliciousjump preparing a tank for me takes anywhere from 20min to hours depending on the gallons,i've been keeping fish as a kid, 3 months...ur shittin me, were trying to keep fish, not do a science project.
@JETSTA916 It IS a science project. If you think about it, we are attempting to re-create a highly complex ecosystem in a small glass cube. The reason some people seem to have "success" without the work, is because the fish are hardy and manage to survive. Fish cannot express pain or distress until they are in dire straights. What enthusiasts have found, is when minimizing the stress on the fish (no exposure to ammonia, proper cycling, good water chemistry, the fish live longer and grow bigger.
@zuliciousjump correct about the cycle but i have never had it take 3 months a fishless cycle should be ready for fish in about 6 weeks one at a time the cycle will continue to adjust as more fish are added . also i don't know what this was in response to but a "suicide" fish cycle can be done in about 4 weeks if you don't want to kill your fish than a cycle with fish can take up to 3 months anyway awesome fish
would't that be cool if you could shrink your self down and swim around with your gold fish ins his aquarium. thats what i always think bout when i look at my tanks,
I absolutely love goldfish! I got my first one a few months ago on an impulse buy. I found out recently hes called a red cap oranda ( walmart doesn't label good ) I named him Mr. Redface. I have 6 other goldfish now too, I get the most unique ones possible, one of them has such a puffed head it's almost covering his eyes. I named him Fatface about a week before I even bought him :)
Wow! Six goldfish. I hope you have a big enough tank. Orandas are one of the largest fancy breeds of goldfish (they can grow to be 8 to 10 inches). This is why you only see three fish in my 50 gallon tank. Not providing adiquate space will cause serious health problems in the future. I would find a good book on fish keeping that discusses tank cycling, matinance, and selecting communities.
Well I just got one more fish yesterday, he's a pearl scale one, so I'm at 7 goldfish currently. I have a 5 gallon tank. But all of my fish are just little guys, no bigger than 2 inches. Some barely an inch.
They will not do well in a five gallon. 7 goldies need at least 80 gallons (even as babies!) This is because it is not about the size of the fish, but the waste they produce. Your fish will suffer from ammonia poisoning and stunted growth if they do not have a proper tank.
be aware of they produce lots of ''trash/Crap)'' in your tank. if you dont clean, nitrate and nitrite will be booming in tank, resulting in dead fish. :)
Thanks! I try to keep things simple because the goldfish love swimming space (plus goldies with wens have a hard time navigating) They are growing so quickly, I may have to take some of the decorations out :-D
i saw a fish thats $130.00 starting bid for an auction at GOLDFISH CONNECTION. theres the SAME fish, same species and length for only $29.95 at another website that you can buy right away!! no bidding!! its either there or out of stock, which rarely happens! its and 8 inch oranda and i was shocked at the price. mail me for the link!! also other cool cheap fish!!
I think there is a difference in goldfish just as there is in any other highly bred animal. For instance, you can get a german shepherd for 100$ from some random petshop, or you can find one with pedigree through a breeder for 1,200$ There will always be a difference in conformation, coloring, and show standards. Essentially, you get what you pay for. I would however love a link to see these goldfish of yours. cheers.
nice set-up well decorated too! your fish are beautiful specemins they also look happy healthy and active, thanks for sharing this vid of well cared for fancies! *****
