  • I still don't understand why I got the first question wrong. This is really not sitting well with my intellectual ego.

  • Typically brilliant my dear stone ;-)

  • READ THIS COMMENT BEFORE TAKING THE FIRST TEST!!!!.The cards have a letter on one side and a number on the other.

  • u suck ass, moron

  • .....why would you say that?

  • Very interesting vid. Thank you. :)

  • I don't understand the first question. If I need to prove that the condition is true, In my mind, I would need turn over the first and the third cards ("D" and "3") so that I could prove that the "D" has a "3" on the other side of it and then to prove that the "3" has a "D" on the other side of it. Why, then, is the answer "D" and "7"? What does "7" have to do with proving the condition?

  • You're looking to see if the rule has any "exceptions".You're looking for the cheater just like in the second question.

  • That doesn't answer my question. How is the "7" card any more likely to cheat than the "3" card? To me the "3" card is actually a more likely cheater because we're being told half the story is true with that card. A cheater would do much better by telling half the truth so if I see a "7" I'm already convinced that's not going to have a "D" on the other side and even if it did I already know it fails the test and there's no reason to waste time flipping it. Flipping the "3" card solves that.

  • Sorry, the error that you have made is assuming that this rule"If a card has a D on one side,it has a 3 on the other side"Implies this rule"If a card has 3 on one side,it has D on the other side".(cont)

  • It can be any letter.3 does not need to be turned over for the same reason that 25 years old does not need to be turned in the second question.

  • The 3 does not need to have a D on the other side to stay in conformity with the first rule.

  • We don't need to turn over the F because the cards have a letter on one side and a number on the other. That leaves us with 7.If 7 turns out to have a D on the other side it means the rule has an exception.

  • READ THIS COMMENT BEFORE TAKING THE FIRST TEST!!!!.The cards have a letter on one side and a number on the other.

  • excellent!

  • Actually, with the way you've presented it, the answers would be D, F, and 7, since you didn't specify (as Wason did) that cards have a letter on one side and a number on the other. Without that constraint, you would need to turn over the F to make sure there wasn't a D on the other side.

  • Damn!You're right!

  • Do you really have a cat head Mr worldlystone?

  • Yes.
