  • wow, its weird seeing my head teacher on bass for fucking icehouse!

  • Nice ! Brought back good memory's

  • best intro response from the crowd ever!!!!

  • this song is Australia should be the national anthem

  • I know it's some sort of national pride thing, but the asshole with the didgeridoo absolutely ruined the song for me with his horrible sense of time.

  • good song hasent changed at all

  • @kellisuet Only the hair style has changed. Iva still has that voice!! Loved it!! I was about a thousand rows back, but the crowd went off!!

  • great jam by great aussie artists

  • Gostei e muito gostaria que eles fizessem show aqui no Brasil no uma participação no rock in rio sou muito fã!!!

  • Icehouse .... one of the best things in the whole world !! Thanks Iva . All the best from Poland !!

  • If any one ever starts the debate about the Australian Flag and Anthem again... This should be Australia's national Anthem

  • Grandiose pour l'étrenité !!

    Merci Icehouse !!

  • 1:38 !!!!!

  • THIS IS EPIC BE PROUD AUSTRALIA !!!!!

  • damn those guys still sound great, as I remeber them when I was 20, they should have a tour in america (latin america specifically) we still remember this high quality songs when there was so much "new wave" garbage, we were able to "breathe" with good groups like them; they still have lots of fans here and they even don't know it :S

  • the quality of this is astounding wish i had of been there

  • tour ya lazy bastard Iva!

  • thanks for posting this :D

not all fans can see this stuff on tv :(

  • This song makes me wish I was an Australian. Please do a tour here in the US Iva. You have a lot of fans here who would love to see you perform.

  • @garavaliaj Yes, good idea! I am from Australia and Icehouse should visit the US. I am pretty sure it attracts the Americans to come and visit us, so our tourist economy might increase.

  • Someone tell me why this isn't our National Anthem?

  • A real fantastic combination Iva's song "Great southern land" and the didgeridoo. I love it. Its really wonderful.

  • I'm proud to be an Aussie! !!!!!

  • What a GREAT track. So evocative. Kickass brilliance.

  • I just love hearing this song with the Didgeridoo (that's the long tube instrument which that man is blowing around 1.53)

  • classic oz rock

  • I'm an aussie living in the States and want to buy this fantastic dvd of all this great music. Anyone know how I can buy it in the States????? Makes me miss home so much seeing all these guys again!!!!

  • @srrdsteggerda Try Sanity or JB Hi-Fi, I'm pretty sure both do international shipping.

  • How apt was this song? A song that is virtually an unofficial national anthem. A song that cuts to the core of what it is to be in Australia - and to be Australian. A uniquely Aussie trait is to help our mates when the shit hits the fan. How apt, then, that this song features at SOUND RELIEF - this country's biggest domestic relief effort to help our mates who were devastated by the Vic bushfires over a year ago. THIS is what it means to be an Aussie, what it means to live in Australia!

  • @MrPete1966

And happy Australia Day to you my friend!

  • i miss down under music. Hearing this after all these years. Nostalgic.

  • im on my sis's acount but im 13 and i love the 70's and 80's music cause its talent not like 2daiis music u let the computer do everything 4 u great song love australia

  • Great tune.. They still have a fan here in Arizona.. I love this great band from down under...

  • The beauty of a live performance, is it DOESN'T have to be exact as the recording in the studio.

I must admit, my first thoughts when I watched this live on the day was FAR OUT, IVA GOT OLD.. then I realised I got old WITH HIM lmao!

Who cares if it isn't the "radio" or "recorded" version? Just appreciate the talent guys..

  • Must hear this wonderful song every day, otherwise I miss something. Its really top.

  • There are two voices that are worth their weight in gold (perfect pitch, control and in tune no mater how low or high they choose to sing) and Iva you are one of them. The other one is also in his 50's and was big late 70's and 80's Just was a good time for music.

  • I hear you, it was a great time in AUS/NZ music.

My wife and I sat down recently to count all the good Aussie, NZ around from '75 to'90. We came up with 64 great bands. What is around today?

  • Great intro

    Great melody in the verses

Crappy chorus - just lets the song down

  • The chorus doesn't sound right, I agree. I know the song is pretty famous, but it could have used a more uplifting chorus and then settled back into that wonderfully melodic verse.

  • Phantastic song, in combination with the Didgeridoo. I love it. What a great band. Top people.

  • Awesome song and Awesome band! It makes me homesick hearing it sitting here in the UK! So proud to be Aussie!!

  • Exactly. I feel homesick and I am not even from Australia! Maybe someday I will get there, would love to see Iva and the band live. Regret that I didnt do that back in the 80's.

  • How can you feel homesick when your not from Australia? lol

  • Didn't you read my whole comment? That is what I said 'I feel homesick and I am NOT even from AUSTRALIA! The point is that is how much the song touches my heart. I love Aussie's. Hope I can visit some day.

  • the best aussie band of all time is AC/DC u f"ing tool

  • Well, we all know what they say about opinions, we all have them. You like AC/DC so much, go and listen to them, u f"ing tool.

  • fan-fucking-tastic!!! The best Australian band of all time. Iva's most proud song, sung to perfection here.

  • Iva < I am so proud of u < words can not explain,X

  • Wow!!! The best band ever.

A lesson of MUSIC, especially in these times, where most of the bands sucks.

  • Wait are there any of the original members there other than the singer?

  • thanks for the upload..makes me miss sydney, while i sit in argentina, miles away!!!

  • Great band!

Greetz from a fan from holland.

  • Just great music a fan from sweden

  • wicked..wicked..saw icehouse in Tauranga New Zealand all those years back...COME BACK ICEHOUSE!!

  • Iva Davies still rocks! He's a great performer. Probably it's a mix of live and prerecorded tracks. You can hear the Prophet 5 synthesizer while it's not on stage.

  • Oh yeah, whatever.

It could be a sample running from the Motif,

or it could be another sound source doing a close approximation of the Prophet 5, or it could be the keyboard player blowing a kazoo with his ass, don't ya think? Sheesh!

  • Comment removed

  • that had me in stitches lol

  • They were the best performers their may I say :) Coldplay were pretty awsome too.

  • love this song

  • Icehouse 4 ever!!!

    Iva!!!... great

  • Iva - for God's sake - bring out another album and do a tour! Get off your arse mate!!

  • When oh when is the Bi-Polar Poems album going to get released Iva? It gets circa 1M hits when you search google? Good to see the band back in action again sounding as good as ever. Please come to the UK!!! Look at all the other bands making a comeback these days!

  • Hi Iva, you have no idea, maybe you have, how popular Icehouse still is, we hear you everyday in our German radio stations, you available everyday, and we enjoy and love the music, come - play live we will join you and sing with you.... yes put your songs on I-tune that we can buy them...cheers Rainer

  • Huge in Germany? Fantastic. I had no idea how wide their fanbase was. Absolutely awesome

  • Iva, if you read this ... pleaes post your singles on iTUNES !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hey just a girl just wanna say thanks for posting these. Caught some of the event on cable but have enjoyed watching some repeats and things i missed. cheers.

  • Geez Iva's aged well!

  • ah kids, lots of passion for australian music. i have always seen iva as our david bowie.measure for measure was the first digitaly recorded album in the world and you cant tell me a band like this has not influenced todays bands like the killers.

  • Well said - Presets & others included. Good to see the ungins (Katie & Kav) on stage although effort didn't seem much. Nick Cester from Jet improvised well on the guitar

  • Hey Guys it's actually Kav from Eskimo Joe

  • I was there! Right near the stage Red oval front)

  • cosmic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • does anyone know who the people are that he introduced?

  • it's katie from little birdy and nick from eskimo joe.. and i think they don't the words that well.

  • I dunno...if Great Southern Land was an obscure song, I would have understood Katie and Nick not knowing the words?? Iva introduced them, and they just stood there like dead fish! I'm sorry, but I thought that was a bit piss-weak really!

  • I'm with you iadobeyou, that was pretty piss weak.

How can you be a musician in Australia and not know Great Southern Land? It's iconic FFS!

I don't know if it's just me, or they way the video is cut, but Iva seems to have an amused (perhaps bemused) look on his face when he looks in their direction... You'd think if they were going to come on stage with them that they'd rehearse it and learn the words...

  • it was a little pissweak

  • aah thanks

  • WOW, awesome song and this remix??? fantastic. who is the didgeridoo player??? this song is- WOW

  • You are awesome, Mr. D!

  • William Barton is AMAZING! His playing lifts this song to another level entirely :)

  • Can't wait to buy DVD.

  • This is one of those moments you don't forget. I was so glad I was there. It was a sooooo good. Wow wow and wow. The presets and Ice house were the bomb! With the lighting and rain. I'll never forget. I hope they put a dvd out :)

  • All the classic oldschool bands rocked - I wondered whether they'd be able to bring the same energy and presence that they used to, and every single one did. Hugely, hugely impressed.

  • One of the most loved Australian songs of all time, great to hear the didgeridoo during the track, such a great touch touch and makes it more Australian than the original version. Doesn't get any better than this!!

  • Fuck yeah, Australia.

    Song is made of win.

  • Great performance! Nobody rocks a didgeridoo like Icehouse. In all seriousness, they still sound amazing and the video behind them was inspiring.

  • Icehouse are a truly amazing band!

  • Always loved these guys. But only in the last few years did I realise they were an AUSSIE band! : /

    XD

  • Yeah my fellow aboriginal cousins keep that didgeridoo going. This song is so fucking good and its one of the best aussie songs going! p.s. the presets were also fking crazy.

  • The Presets??!

    * scampers off in dearch of fave band *

  • I enjoy dearching too.

  • I meet wonderful people when I go about dearching. They are full of fun and whimsy, and we oft enjoy a tipple until we topple.

As in this instance, I do rarely find the the object of my original dearching.

  • icehouse's performance was top shelf.

  • Welcome back Iva......hot hot hot

  • AWSOME song awsome county

  • Dude.... Awesome song, awesome country.

  • brilliant

  • Wow, fantastic... thx for putting this on youtube.. as I'm currently living in Egypt its great to 'be home'.

  • isnt that kav from eskimo joe on stage?

  • awesome song

  • Iva Davies has definately not lost his old touch, would have been great to see, hope they come up to Brisbane to play again sometime.

  • PRESETS YEAAAAA

  • Who are the two he introduced to the stage? If they are fellow muso's, they just stood there like dorks - they didnt have a clue. Shame. (apologise in advance if they are BF victims being honoured).

  • So what songs did they play....

  • They played Great Southern Land, We Can Get Together, Electric Blue, Crazy and Can't Help Myself. I had to find out by looking at the Icehouse offficial website to find out

  • sounds great still

  • OMG I'm in love all over again!!! Iva Davies has definitely still got it Hopefully they will tour again....if they did I bet all their concerts would sell out. I used to see them live all the time in the 80's and they were the BEST!!! Thanks for the vid

  • Iva Davies at 2004 Australia Day ceremony in Wagga(cont):something like bushfire, which we most often view as having no possible redeeming quality, is absolutely essential for the continuation of most of its life. It has forged those qualities in us which we recognise as being "Australian"the determination, the resilience in the face of adversity, the generosity of community spirit..the good humour and laconic wit. These are qualities which Australians have had to evolve in order to survive here

  • Officially homesick! Thanks for your YouTube channel...helps us Aussie expats in a big way! Cheers! :)

  • Iva Davies at 2004 Australia Day ceremony in Wagga: The Wattle Tree, along with more than half of Australia's native species of trees and plants, needs to be burnt by bushfire. They've evolved in such a way that their seeds are so tough, in order to protect them from predators like birds and insects, that the only thing that will free the seeds from their protective shells is a bushfire...The only thing that will allow them to produce a

new generation of trees and plants is to be "burnt black."

  • Fantastic!! Any idea on the lineup, I only recognised Iva...

  • Paul Gildea - other guitar, David Chapman - keyboards, Glenn Reither - sax/keys, Paul Wheeler - drums, Steve Bull - bass.

  • Thanks, ah so it was PW and DC after all.

  • absolutley great to see the boys in action again......just hope a tour follows
