I got laid of from my job after 23 years and burnt through my 401k plan in a year trying to live my same lifestyle. Some people here are right that fucking lousy bosses are the reason for all this. Its crazy because I have a daughter who doesn't have her degree but when she was very young I pushed her to study hard in school, she did and man shes keeps getting jobs. She was not working for two years and then got a job, quit. Got another, quit and now she's making 18 dollars hr. managing 500.

@dmana3172 It's never easy to judge either party. Being an employer is not easy, either. When you're the one that has to write paychecks to your employees, you will not like the unions too much. I know that a company recently fired a JACKASS because he had the nerves to wash his car during working hours. The union is going to protect him and sue the company. Well guess what, the company was able to obtain the tape to prove it. This nasty lawsuit will make the union look really bad. Sad.

The Worksource job center here treated me like a number and do not care. The internet is nothing but a scam and over 92% of the jobs are really non-existant and places do not call you. Even if you call people back they never call you back and treat you like work and assume things without even meeting you. People never call you and most of the jobs on Craiglist are either scams or non existant. Never have I seen things so bad here. I will be homeless soon if it was not for the fact we have a REAL unemployment rate in Oregon of 50% or more. They try and say it is 5% or less which is a big lie. There are too many non-existant jobs here. I have a Accounting Degree.
If you're looking for a job, the best thing to do is to not wear a Hustler T-Shirt when looking for one. I know it's stupid and prudish, but that's what most employers look for.

My former boss-hinted our contract was about to end. I knew that meant people losing jobs. So what I did-first put my resume on Monster. Check four times a day-the internet and picked up a newspaper daily (usually bright and early) within a week-I found full-time work. I do notice that now employers are firing easily in this economy-so always show up early for work and if you dont understand something ask!!! It's rough out there. Good luck

you sound foolish. It didn't say anything about making money out of nothing. It said making money no matter what is going on. For example, I own a small grocery store, no matter how bad the economy gets, people still eat... they might go from name brand to generic, but they still eat. I also own a communications company; people still pay phone bills, and use the internet, and watch TV, and because the bad economy they're getting more home security systems. So my income hasn't been affected.

: ) you sound like a liar. grocery gets affected because as less ppl are willing to spend "more", you will not be able to pay your fixed cost. I believe you adopt LIFO in your Supply resource managment. All your old goods will be left unbought and this losses will be reflected in your income statement. furthermore, you have to pay your workers salary. less customers, means workers are not effeciently used. Communication company? why are you watching this Youtube flick? can't be.

I watched this because you know how youtube works, one video leads to the next, you start on a music video and end up watching a documentary about china.... Anyhow, the bad economy didn't affect my grocery business because people have food stamps and people just buy different stuff, less people buy Tide, they now buy "parade" detergent.... And the best books for you are Rich Dad Poor Dad & Think & Grow Rich, go study them then come back and apologize ;-)

and basically you are not monitoring your grocery business well, your proft margin will drop and if your contribution margin goes lower than your variable cost. and this will only be reflected in your accounts maybe by end of the year and i seriously still think you are a liar.
