I don't know what everyone's so touchy about. Luke, I dig the way the snare sounds. One of those "happy accidents," because I feel it fits in with the song pretty dang well.
@foxxrider250r Navene didn't write any of the drums parts on AAL's debut album. They were all programmed by Misha Mansoor, lead guitarist of Periphery.
animals as leaders drummer is good and he has some FREAKY ASS RYTHMSSSSSMSMS so playing any song would be kind of challenging.NIGGAAAA i wanna see something else from weightless!!!
only time I've ever seen you struggle like this. it's interesting seeing the expert get his ass handed to him musically xD it's almost 100% spot on, i noticed a mis-timed kick or two but its awesome man.
@ViestursBalodis he actually nailed it almost perfectly. The "show-off" u mention, most of the time keeps guys like this in time. All the little stick trick accents could really help you to overcome such a strange and challenging polyrythm if you already used to that flare. I say great job Luke, and most all of us enjoy your "flare"...otherwise i would just go watch chase.=)
@TourettesUnicorn i think the snare sounds awesome itself. the production makes it a little muddy but when there is a song behind a drum track with a drum track theres a battle for frequency. but that snare has a bad ass sound. especially in the Composure cover. i vote "digg the snare" not to mention he's a badass drummer regaurdless.
i just came here to say, awesome work you are truly amazing, cafo its one of my favorite songs, specially for the drums, and you pulled it extraordinarily
also ignore the sad trolls, sadly youtube its plagued with a lot of them that dont have anything good to add
I see ignorance everywhere. If anyone here knew ANYTHING about recording youd figure out pretty easily that this might have been a delay issue between the mic and the console to the recording. And i see a lot of shit being sprayed around about playing better than him. Well fuck, i dont see you endorsed by a a mainstream cymbal company, a growing drum company, and a clothing line getting more popular but the second. Easy on the lips but im sure none of you posers can pull this off.
... What a horrible way of playing double stroke rolls. He's alright, but maybe he should learn to stop doing stick tricks and actually play PERFECTLY in time and learn a bit of 'proper' technique. There is quite a lot of flamming in his playing against the backing...
@coolhandman Except he didn't master it. He flams and is off beat all over the place in this cover. In most of his cover. I think Luke is a good drummer, but as I've always said, he needs to work on timing and being on beat.
@potman66 For the 98749582745th time, the snare being off like that was the mix. I know how to play in time, promise. The snare head was popped when we recorded this as well. If I was to upload the raw audio, you'd understand.

I tend to troll your videos a lot on accident, and I do apologize. Maybe take it as constructive criticism? I don't know, take it as you will, but that's what I hear, and probably what others do too.
@potman66 I feel like maybe you don't know what you're talking about.. he is directly on with the original recording by animals as leaders. for as much of it as he does follow the original. I think. you're maybe hearing little adds the original drummer did.
@slaveofthemaster777 I feel like I do know what I'm talking about? It's on other videos. I'm not saying Luke is bad in any way at all, I'm just saying that mix always sounds off, now that Luke has explained it to me. Calm yourself.
The reason the snare sounds the way it does is because he's recording in a garage, in the summer, in Arizona. Temperature and weather conditions always effect drums.
@THEMOSHMAN1 It messes with the wood of the drums, and if the wood stretches or shrinks then the head gets messed up and the sound is messed up too. It happens a lot with humidity, too.
Some Protest the Hero would be awesome, but now tha i have seen this i dont think it would really challenge you o.o im very jealous! But it would still be epic ifyou covered Blindfolds aside or Tapestry by PtH (just some examples)
