So let me get this logic straight: you are mad people read and distributed the unfinished draft, so you are going to punish your fans by not publishing a finished, polished version? And then you are giving every one the right to view the unfinished draft? That makes sense. Hey, just give up. This ensures that the only experience people have with your novel is the crap version (unpublished), instead of the less crap version (published, but still crap since everything she writes is crap).

I completely understand why Stephenie should be upset, but it's getting stupid now. She's being a little pathetic, thousands upon thousands of books get leaked on the internet every year, this is just another one of those cases, though still very unfortunate. Millions of people are desperate to read this book, I myself being one of them, and now it's just getting rather annoying. Now Stephanie Meyers has a book coming out which is like Eclipse from Bree's point of view.. She's a nobody we meet for only a few secs. Mrs Meyers decided to post the leaked chapters on her site which is where I actually came across and fell in love with the book. Then tells her fans I may continue it.....when my mood changes. thousands of fans have spent thousands and been patiently waiting.. at least give a time table months...years...ever. I think she just got sick of writing it.

I Hope You do finish and publish midnight sun you have alot of fans that realy want to see the finished product ihope that if you do publish it and it goes down well they you will do all of the 4 books in edward point of view because you can get an insight into edwards emotion and body language throughout the books he was quite Trival so it will be good if sephanie could do this.

Stephanie so was over reacting one bit, her emotions are her own, everyone reacts in different degrees. I happen to be just as sensitive to these things as she is, not that I'm a writer or anything, but having your private stuff distributed is a lot harder to handle than you guys thing. Her emotions was what made the books so great, so I think she has the right to be very upset and what she said on her site; she was really upset you guys, can you guys even comprehend that? How upset she was?
Stephenie never gave us the official that she would be continuing Midnight Sun. In June 08, she said that it would be her next project. However, in August, the draft was leaked and she stated, In any case, I feel too sad about what has happened to continue working on Midnight Sun, and so it is on hold indefinitely. That was the last response she gave us on Midnight Sun, and no words on the matter after that; therefore, none of us officially know if she is to continue.
Secondly, I do not disagree that her emotions are a right of her own. Yes, I believe that she had overreacted; she did not have to bring us down with her. As a fan, I feel that it is unfair. However, as a writer myself, I understand where she is coming from. I would feel violated and betrayed that my work was distributed without my knowledge. Besides, my response you read to the leak was given a year ago, so my views have changed on the subject.
So if I were you, I wouldnt be judging another persons reaction to this. I appreciate that you voiced your opinion, really, I do. Nevertheless, you cant just point fingers and accuse me of misunderstanding Stephenies pain. As I writer I can understand how she feels. When you feel like there is a possibility that your work may be stolen, just a possibilty, it hurts. But for it to really happen is unimaginable for me. I agree with her, no matter how much I love the Twilight saga and wish she'd write MS, I don't think that I would finish either.
The moral of the story is, don't disribute your work, keep it to yourself and your editor/publisher.
I can sympathise with Stephenie Meyer fully on this too as I am a writer also. It is simple dredful to imagine your un-finished piece leaked for all the world to see. I would not want this. When your creating a book you look upon it as your very own masterpiece it hurts to think that it could be given away.

The media would likely go crazy an we would all find out who the leak was, but what would it matter? That person would be despised by Twilight fans, but what would that solve? So let me get this logic straight: you are mad people read and distributed the unfinished draft, so you are going to punish your fans by not publishing a finished, polished version? And then you are giving every one the right to view the unfinished draft? That makes sense. Hey, just give up. This ensures that the only experience people have with your novel is the crap version (unpublished), instead of the less crap version (published, but still crap since everything she writes is crap).

I completely understand why Stephenie should be upset, but it's getting stupid now. She's being a little pathetic, thousands upon thousands of books get leaked on the internet every year, this is just another one of those cases, though still very unfortunate. Millions of people are desperate to read this book, I myself being one of them, and now it's just getting rather annoying. Now Stephanie Meyers has a book coming out which is like Eclipse from Bree's point of view.. She's a nobody we meet for only a few secs. Mrs Meyers decided to post the leaked chapters on her site which is where I actually came across and fell in love with the book. Then tells her fans I may continue it.....when my mood changes. thousands of fans have spent thousands and been patiently waiting.. at least give a time table months...years...ever. I think she just got sick of writing it.

Its incredibly sad for Stephenie and i feel terrible for her - i only found out a short while ago when i was on her site. ive read what she posted at the end of her statement and i can only hope that one day she decides she can continue with it... i feel totally robbed by whoever it was actually leaked it origionally.
Its such a shame to see the talent that would go into Edward's version go to waste.

That's terrible! She has to continue it! The fans will be waiting for whenever she decides to work on it again! I will NEVER read it before it comes out in book form. Stephenie should be able to complete it without rushing, but now, too many people know about it and she's probably being pressured. Stephanie so was over reacting one bit, her emotions are her own, everyone reacts in different degrees. I happen to be just as sensitive to these things as she is, not that I'm a writer or anything, but having your private stuff distributed is a lot harder to handle than you guys thing. Stephenie never gave us the official that she would be continuing Midnight Sun. In June 08, she said that it would be her next project. However, in August, the draft was leaked and she stated, In any case, I feel too sad about what has happened to continue working on Midnight Sun, and so it is on hold indefinitely. That was the last response she gave us on Midnight Sun, and no words on the matter after that; therefore, none of us officially know if she is to continue.

As I writer I can understand how she feels. When you feel like there is a possibility that your work may be stolen, just a possibilty, it hurts. But for it to really happen is unimaginable for me. I agree with her, no matter how much I love the Twilight saga and wish she'd write MS, I don't think that I would finish either.
The moral of the story is, don't disribute your work, keep it to yourself and your editor/publisher.

I know how she feels. If your witting a book, like me and some others, and it is leaked by a friend.Well, shoot. I cant trust my friends. I would have put it on, but that might be stolen. My thoughts on it is that you shouldn't give your friends the drafts. I did and they already want it to be a movie! So i burned it. I rather publish it and then have a good producer film it. my friends cousin, young producer and also in my fav place. But don't leak books please! It hurts us authors!

stephenie is rite. whoever leaked this had no rite 2 publish it on the internet and make a HUGE scene. the person probably wanted ppl 2 like them 4 the sneak peek, but now every1 hates them 4 leakin it and makin stephenie mad! they make a HUGE mistake becuz now the book won't b published in who knows how long! it suxx!!! cuz i luved the twilight saga after i saw the twilight commercial and i REALLY wanna hear edwards thoughts becuz it'll b sumthin new 4 the twilight saga. I agree with Stepheni Meyer if she wouldve written that book now who knows where Bella and Edward would have ended up. I just hope that she will write another book to this amazing saga. That would be the most wonderful thing ever. However, if she doesn't finish Midnight Sun I think I would understand but I would also be very upset. =/

I like the way she reacted. If she doesn't finish Midnight Sun I would be sad but I would understand. The media would likely go crazy an we would all find out who the leak was, but what would it matter? That person would be despised by Twilight fans, but what would that solve? If she doesn't finish... she doesn't finish.

At this point it is Stephanie that's letting the fans down. While I understand her dissapointment, she's always said how much she like to share her work so it is now time to move on and write the book!!! The Host was NOT what I want from her. I hope she gets back to what she does best. I would buy and read the whole series again from a differnt characters perspective. Or a series of books about Jasper or Carlisle's histories.

It's almost ridiculous now.. but then again , she made a lot of money from the Twilight Movie and book sequels.
This kind of stuff happens all the time! yeah it hurts but it's not fair to the fans that have been waiting so long to read it. Simply unfair, i hope she re-thinks this

2 years??? She thinks ppl will 4get it? I've been seriously upset because of this! But at the same time I, as a writer, knoqw how that kind of thing would seriously hurt. Not only was she betrayed, but it was someone close to her. She was able 2 tell 'cause all the copies were different.

i read on a site that stephenie wished to wait almost 2 years so that people have forgotten the story so she can rewrite it but i hope that that isnt true, in the twilight book im reading in swedish it says that midnight sun is comming out september 2009 but that is probably wrong cause some one leaked it out .. but i read the beginning of the midnight sun in swedish in some store, how could that be possible? and is that book only about what was going through edwards head through the whole time?

its weird cause i also read that on her site, and she wrote that if she kept writing midnight sun now then she would just end up writing james killing the culllens, but she actually cant do that since that book is edwards p.o.v of twilight, and in twilight, james dies, so she cant really change stuff
