BOY you've got a MEAN right foot! You pumped the poor Beetlebug's gas pedal so much it was flooded! I have witnessed truly scary things shooting-out from a couple of old VW Beetles years ago! Both were driven by young guys like you! LOL
@maellereita Holding the gas down is for when the engine has been flooded, to clear the carb. If the engine is starving for fuel after sitting idle for so long, he had to work his foot to fill the old dry engine. I've seen guys flood the hell out of their poor old beetles years ago, causing thick black "smoke sticks" to shoot from the tailpipes, occasionally a flame popped out-SCARY!!!
If the carburetor doesn't have gas being pumped into it..you can pump the throttle till your leg falls off..she ain't gonna fire..

Hey Mr. legalg! If you do any more cold starts of the Beetle, I would love to see if it shoots the "smoke sticks"! C'mon back for more pumping fun!

instead of pumping, I hold the gas half way down and start while it's down. It works every time for me.
