I only trapped beaver for a year and did great then the fur market took a dump. I trapped a lake and parts of the Chesapeake Bay. I miss it but now I'm duck hunting. You made a great video...brought back memories, I trapped for 30 yrs .

beavers don't drown....they run out of oxygen and slip into a coma. They have extra inner lips and there nose closes... they are involuntary muscles...so they have no control to breath when they are underwater. Just so you anti fur people know... :-)

I did a lot of slide trapping I used a sand bag or brick to anchor the deep end so all i had to do was use a long handle fish gaff to grab the wire and put the beaver or otter in then just toss it back out and reset the trap

I plan to get a few out next month but not too many. Some of my most memorable moments on the trapline was growing up and we lived in Ripley TN for a time and dad and I floated the Hatchy Bottoms on an all day trapline. Those were the days. Not too far from Memphis if I remember correctly.
You better get a few sets out, my kid is ahead of you by 5 muskrats so far, I am just along to keep from getting fat through the winter. I love this video, never did much beaver trapping but we have to help some friends out this winter.

Dads went up the and helped him out several times then he comes down here and dad would take some of his turkey clients out. Lets go, I'm ready!

I only trapped beaver for a year and did great then the fur market took a dump. I trapped a lake and parts of the Chesapeake Bay. I miss it but now I'm duck hunting. You made a great video...brought back memories, I trapped for 30 yrs .
