Shephard it completely right. They knew that they would still be eligible for bonuses. All of them should've at the very least knew if this loophole was in the Bailout.
They are now heralding for for the heads of the people who got the bonuses, when they knew they could have got them.
They may have gotten over, but contract is law and they shouldn't be allowed to press the matter forward. Obama knows this considering he's a constitutional lawyer. Let's see how this unfolds..
If Congress didn't want executives spending the money on bonuses, there's a real simple prevention strategy they could've put in place: DON'T BAIL PEOPLE OUT! It's so simple. If you don't want your money spent on stuff without knowing what it'll be spent on maybe you shouldn't dole out funds to those people. Just a thought.
Besides, $165 Million is less than 1% of the total bailout money giving to AIG! If AIG REALLY wanted to be crooks, they could've used all of it for bonuses.
Finally, some moral outrage at the REAL crooks: Congress! I'm sick of all the liberal attacks on Wall St. Yes, Wall St. fucked up (well, a portion of it anyway), but these are usually competent individuals. They drive a lot of economic growth and create jobs. They expand wealth in this nation. Yet, one screw up, and the Left is ready to jump on them like sharks, when they forget their government's own decisions that enabled this kind of risky and stupid behavior in the FIRST PLACE.
This video needs to be shown over and over again, on the air!
