Why is it that New York always gets compared to Chicago and vice versa? The two cities are nothing alike, they both stand out and are great in very different ways. As for skyline, I must say Chicago has a better looking skyline because it looks very orderly and elegant...especially how beautifully it lines up the parks and the lake shore. Manhattan's 2 skylines are a beast no doubt, but they look very random and chaotic. When it comes to energy and street activity, NYC blows Chicago away..

It's cleaner, provides better scenery, access to beaches, more breathing room, less expensive and most importantly, it has a laid back atmosphere. Manhattan is amazing, but it's dirtier, crowded and has very suffocating/stressful feel because it's so dense and so big. That is Manhattan's drawback and Chicago's gain. So Chicago is superior to Manhattan in some ways as well.

However, although Manhattan is the premier borough of the city, you have to remember Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and the Bronx also have alot of cool places to offer. Thats what makes NYC-the collaboration of 4 other partial cities- where 75% of all New Yorkers live. And so, yes Manhattan is crowded, but thats why many choose to live in the other quieter boroughs instead. And Brooklyn, is NYC and its own separate city in itself.

Why is it that New York always gets compared to Chicago and vice versa? The two cities are nothing alike, they both stand out and are great in very different ways. As for skyline, I must say Chicago has a better looking skyline because it looks very orderly and elegant...especially how beautifully it lines up the parks and the lake shore. Manhattan's 2 skylines are a beast no doubt, but they look very random and chaotic. When it comes to energy and street activity, NYC blows Chicago away..

It's cleaner, provides better scenery, access to beaches, more breathing room, less expensive and most importantly, it has a laid back atmosphere. Manhattan is amazing, but it's dirtier, crowded and has very suffocating/stressful feel because it's so dense and so big. That is Manhattan's drawback and Chicago's gain. So Chicago is superior to Manhattan in some ways as well.

However, although Manhattan is the premier borough of the city, you have to remember Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and the Bronx also have alot of cool places to offer. Thats what makes NYC-the collaboration of 4 other partial cities- where 75% of all New Yorkers live. And so, yes Manhattan is crowded, but thats why many choose to live in the other quieter boroughs instead. And Brooklyn, is NYC and its own separate city in itself.

Yeah, Brklyn was once a separate city, a rival to Manhattan, not a secondary city, but an equally grand city-then it became more of a residential borough and Manhattan became the booming center.Doesnt matter though, Brookyln is every bit as much as New York as Manh is-and contains the most NewYorkers of any borough! So my Point is that ALL NYC is NOT crowded-there are quieter parts like Brklyn that are still in the city-so Chicagl has NO leg up!

Chicago dont have the miles & miles of projects that NYC has. NYC looks too depressing with all of those projects. We got new buildings like Chicago,but the Empire State will always be the masterpiece. I like Chicago's skyline,but it's too small,and being in it is too good to be true.In New York,I can stare up to the buildings in wonder,and walk for ages across the narrow island of Manhattan. Hong Kong has the world's best skyline.

Chicago may have fewer buildings than NYC but we have the tallest buildings in our skyline joe & thats one of the reasons why we have the world's greatest skyline. Since New York has a larger skyline,it is more powerful and better in some important ways then Chicago. Once the Freedom Tower is up,it will pass Chicago and maybe Hong Kong to become the world's best skyline. New York did always had the world's most iconic skyline.
