most african ocuntries start of peaceful but when billions of dollars are to be had then wars, killings, corruption and theiving start to thrive. It WILL happe, mark my words
@TheMZLEXUS Not a stupid or ignorant comment. In case you have not been paying attention, the devastation, destabilization and exploitation that has been befalling all of the African oil states e.g Sudan, Nigeria etc. Who is behind it? Greedy white Corporations and greedy, short sighted western backed local political puppets. Thats just the oil, not mentioning the horrors of the diamond trade(which they dominate) or coltan or colbolt. In the end who suffers? They have no regard for African life
@TheMZLEXUS If Ghana wants to do something for itself it better keep these foreign interests out and do for itself -- politics and economics 101 in the existing capitalist world --. PS if its still had for you to understand watch a documentary call the Great African Scandal, it will give you a little context for you. Peace
@modogray -i get what u mean nd where u coming from...Ghana we know what we are doing....to the world they might not understand but to us it makes sense...will also make in the next 4 yrs ....thx for ure concern...God Bless u....
What ghana needs to do is not only sign a contract with this UK company and blindly let them do all the work but also follow up and gain intel, and create formation programs for ghanians to be able to learn and hopefully later become able to extract on their own. Also the best way to avoid all kinds of corruptions would be to develop infrastructures and regulations that are strong and stable enough to last a long time without the threat of ill-motivated individuals.
they cant be corrupt because all our money is going to be set on the swiss bank and if we need money we need to ask and will use for the thing what we want
@frankansah Sorry 2 disappoint u but that's what they all say. Yeah Ghana is its own Country but already getting 13%of their own oil if i'm not mistaken is aleady starting off on a bad footing. I think Ghanians mean well but when this amount of money comes n2 play with the greedyness of the ones @ the top, my advice is 2 just be cautious & learn 4rm Nigeria, Angola & the rest.
@Poppaafrica Corruption significantly affects nearly every African state apart from Botswana & Rwanda that are shining examples. If we didn't have those two states we would be looking at a very bleak picture.
@frankansah UG, East Africa also found comercial quantities of oil at the same time and works with the same Tulow Oil ltd but the best way for both these states to progress is if the oil is processed/refined in the respective states in Africa before the oil is exported.

Ghanaians are a different breed then other African countries. Yes were peaceful but we speak up and get agressive when we have to. I have a lot of hope for Ghana. I can see myself living there in 10 years. My main issue is the unemployment and the roads. GOD BLESS GHANA
@GHAfrica lol isnt it funny how we discovered the oil bt ivory coast is the one fighting.......yes we have a great nation...we will keep it that way!!!
@GHAfrica Africans don't get it when it comes to roads sometimes. The Chinese say that "to tackle poverty you biuld roads." How can we develop if we don't understand this most simple of development basics. WE NEED RAIL and TARMAC ROAD planning, construction and maintenance.
@GHAfrica BS, Ghanaians are no difference than other countries (Africans or not), more money means an enhanced risk/incentive to commit wrongdoings, a risk of certain regions want a bigger share than others. Yes Ghana has a much lower rate of corruption than Nigeria, less people, less territory = easier to secure, but the risk is there, that the money corrupt, causes the Dutch disease and turn Ghana into a mono-economy. I'll probably get thumbs down for this less positive review of the situation
@Fabs1979 Well spoken my dear...PPL NEED TO STOP WATCHING US GHANAIANS BCS WE HAVE OUR SHIT UNDER CONTROL...GHANAIANS ARE VERY NICE YES BUT NOT STUPID WE KNOW WHAT WE ARE DOING ND WILL PROVE PPL WRONG..AS I SAID GHANA JAH HAS BLESSSSS US ABBUNDATELY ND WHO JAH BLESS NO ONE CAN CURSE..GHANA WILL REMAIN UNITED AS ONE WORKING HARD TO MAKE OUR DREAMS COME TO PASS ..ND ONE DAY GOD WILL GLORIFY HIMSELF..GHANA FORWARD EVER BACKWARDS NEVER...
Ghanaians are already watching the government, unlike the other nations mentioned Ghana's press is free and not afraid to "shop" ministers who want to pocket funds. Not saying everything is sweet but Ghana will be ok.
To all the ASSHOLE that cannot say anything good about the oil discovey than nonesense..PLS NOTE GHANAIANS ARE NOT STUPID WE KNOW WHAT WE ARE DOING ND WILL PROVE IT TO THE ENTIRE WORLD THAT AN AFRICAN ACOUNTRY CAN ACTUALLY FLERISH THEIR COUNTRY WITH WEALTH SO WATCH OUT..nd plsss keep ure nonesense comments to ourselves..Chewwwww...WHO JAH BLESS NO ONE CAN CURSE ..FOOLS!!
