That is how they do it. I think, when they go to record, they try to work the mind in such ways. My friend showed me this music video back when the album first came out (6 years, I think?) and I hated it, purely because of the wind blowing in the hair thing at the beginning. Two years later, a different friend showed me a different song--I was hooked. Now I love this song, despite the hair thing. It is how they work as a band, haha.

Well it actually is in a jazz style the first 8th note is extended out like a dotted-8th-sixteenth pattern, especially in the chorus. I wouldn't call it jazz but it certainly has that feel.
