  • Was the stocks footage faked, or did they still use stocks when this was filmed? Fake surely.

  • The Stocks, as an official form of punishment ended in the 19th century. However there are stocks and pillories still dotted all around the UK. The shot in the movie was just an illustration of how they were used (you can see they are not locked) and to give the scene some movement, I guess. Few people can pass an old set of stocks or pillories without getting in them! Never trust a man who, when left alone in a room with a tea cosy, does not try it on.
