Have a great time - I look fwd to a similarly amusing report in MR. (go via Domodossola-Locarno if you want to try the new Pendolinos, the old ones are using the Gotthard route; but Rhätische Bahn alone offers plenty of scope)
Many thanks, Ian! Having enjoyed your input in MR, i was only too happy to investigate your YouTube activity, and have been suitably transported - probably helped by having just come in from having a wee Carlsberg in my local, and then seeing one served in the train! More power to your elbow in each sense!
Flights £67.00, Hotel CHF 180 (£105), Main Meals 4 x £40.00, Fares about £50.00 for me as I have BR pass but you can get a Swiss travel card which will cover you for travel to and from the Airport and get you half fare on the other trips (not sure about the mountains). This costs £107 second class and £150.00 first class. Adding those up and leaving a bit for fares somewhere in the region of £500.00 per person would cover it.

Excellent video. Tried the Rhätische Bahn yet? It's even better! Suggested itinerary: TGV Paris-Basel, SBB Basel-Luzern-Milan (or boat Luzern-Flüelen if you have time), FS Milan-Tirano, RhB Tirano-Chur, RhB/FO Chur-Andermatt-Goeschenen, SBB Goeschenen-Basel.

Thank you. Funnily enough we are planning a similar trip this year. I have done it before but only in the summer and a long time ago.

Superb. The most professional video I have seen on U-Tube - but what else can you expect from a MR reader/contributor.

Fully agree, well almost - at least you could have tried one of the Swiss beers they have on that run!

Ian, fantastic! I love those Swiss railways, mountains and lakes. Can I ask, how much did your trip cost?
Everyone else, get Modern Railways July 2009 for the full story!
