Kempff just doesn't seem to have the equipment for works that require execution on an epic or grand scale in which intensity of feeling and passion (as this love-poem demands seeing that here is Schumann declaring his love for Clara) is de riguer.
Musikgeni, this is form a Deutsche Gramophon recording with no date on it. As far as I can remember, my father purchased the record not earlier than the seventies. I don't think this is from the sixties, let alone the fifties.

I asked because Kempff didnt record so much in the seventies when he was already in his eighties. but the sound is very good.
