this is probably a really stupid question, but i just switched from virtual dj and am a bit of a noob with traktor. basically, no matter what layout i'm in, i can't control the volume faders. like the indicators are there, but the thing that you drag just isn't there.

A) when i open the osculator and try to change the values to my ipad it wont show the same screen when i hit "New".

For performing live you should connect over an ad-hoc network. You can find info on how to do this on in the manual that comes in the zip file.

@Drummondbase Hi there - Sorry you are having some trouble. Have you checked the ports against the screen grabs in the manual? You will also find instructions in the manual appendix for a CoreMIDI connection, which some users claim is easier to connect.

I have everything set how it should be in the video, but why it isn't working?

1. OSCulator & iPhone have connection

2. All midi mappings listed in OSCulator

3. In-port = 9000 / Out-port = 8000

4. Mapping uploaded to Traktor.

5. Under Paramaters, I have inputs/outputs unchanged because the video didn't specify. Should these be changed? I'm running a Traktor S4 mixer & 2 monitors, and I feel like I have some kind of out/input set wrong.

(Under Quick Look, I see no activity when I press buttons)

@christophercwk Hi there - I'm not sure which page you are referring to, but probably the 'Monitor' means the pre-fade headphone listen, and the 'Master' will be the main output from the mixer. Is that right? Sorry if I have not understood your question.

@christophercwk Hi there - This is interesting - I've not heard of this problem before. Do you have any other controller files loaded in Traktor? Try deleting or disabling them and see if the problem persists. Have you set your ports correctly for the files?

Hi! i think i was able to set up OSC w/ traktor pro 2.0.1 in my mac.... but.... i just can´t control traktor with my ipad... instead, if imove any knob or fader with my mouse IN traktor the ipad responds moving the fader or knob.... i mean it works, but the other way around: i can control my ipad moving faders in traktor, but that´s not the idea... i should be able to move traktor with he ipad, not the other way around.....

Can anyone help me!?

@jurgenbb Hi there - are you talking about OSCulator? If you mean the D with a kind of arrow through it, I think that means the default device. You should upgrade to the latest version. It has more features, is more stable and is slightly more intuitive to use.

Does anyone know how you add TimeV or TimeH to the Osculator; you can't touch them so they won't midi sync and you can't create custom messages so there's no way to do that either.

@ShinchiPicto Hi there, as I understand it, these time commands just display the time from your iPad's clock. They are like labels, and so you don't need to send midi to/from them to display the time. They don't need an OSCulator entry.

SO i need some help! I have done all the necessary steps. I have purchased touchosc for my ipad and I have bought osculator. I have put that file on the osc editor sent it to my ipad and I have put the other file on the osculator. Then I have added the controllers on traktor. After all of this I still cant get it to work. I have also added it to my device on traktor but it doesnt seem to save my setting when I leave the setting page. Could you possibly help? I have done all steps from video.

@ravalos1991 Hello. OSCulator should be running as long as you have the file open. Do you have any other controller files stored in Traktor? Try removing them. It is also possible that you have corrupt file - email me via the website and I will send you fresh files. :-)

You can use these to create your own templates, or you can download my files (there are free ones you can try with fully working mixers) from the website.

@carrickros Hello - in Traktor prefs you should see the 'Export' button at the bottom. Click this and you should be given a list of options to export as a .tsi fil.

@Hector95100 Hello - I'm not sure I quite understand your question. You can add other .tsi files to Traktor, and it will save them as one master .tsi file when you shut down Traktor. You can 'Export' these setting too to save them.

i have all updated versions, but my port (incoming) won't let me change it to 8000. It says: Invalid Ports. Values in fields "Port (outgoing)' and 'Port (incoming)' cannot be the same. @pbfrmfox hello - thanks for your message - Are you talking about the ports on the iPad app, or in OSCulator? It won't work if you leave the ports blank.

In the app's prefs, outgoing should be 9000, incoming 8000.

@JosenJackson Hi there - Yes, this is a wireless controller app for Traktor Pro, not an all-in-one DJ app such as DJ Mixer 3 or any of those similar apps. And it only works with Macs at present, not PCs. Thanks. :-)

@yukethejuke You need to upgrade to a newer version of Traktor. As it says on the site and on the video, you need version 1.2.4 or later. Your version - 1.1.2 - is too old I am afraid.

@AlmaFaccioDaMaster Hi there, sounds like you are having lots of trouble. Can you confirm that you are using v1.2.6 of Traktor (that should fix your .tsi issue), and 2.10.2 of OSCulator. Hi there, good question. I've just been reading some of the bumf on Traktor LE and I'm afraid it looks like it won't work. The LE version only allows for certain midi configurations, but these TouchOSC layouts make use of fully customisable midi inputs and outputs. I don't think it will work, sorry.

You could download the free demo layout to see if it works, but you would still need to buy the TouchOSC app and OSCulator - and that would be wasted cash if you have no joy.

I think the demo is more of a restricted version of Pro than LE. On page 23 of the Traktor manual it says the midi functions in LE are limited. Also have a look at the LE / Duo / Pro comparison table on the NI Traktor website. Sorry fella, those XY pads are awesome for FX!

Hi there

Yes, you can add labels in the TouchOSC Editor. You can set the font size and colour too. You can place the labels anywhere: on buttons, beside faders etc.

Some people use a lot of labels in their layouts but I prefer to use different colours to mark out different functions.

Hi there, yes you do need OSCulator. TouchOSC sends out OSC messages. OSCulator converts these into midi messages, which is what Traktor understands. If you use a PC instead of Mac, programmes like Pure Data can do the same job.

There seems to be a small movement in the NI Traktor forums voting for Traktor to accept OSC signals direct, but now NI are marketing their own controllers I think this is not a feature they will include for a while.
