It's obvious, just look at the website - it'd been a Colorado tradition for 69 years I can remember when I had my picture taken in the cab when I was 6 years old (as I said before) my father, grandfather, uncles, etc have all regularly ridden the ski train. It doesn't matter where the rail cars came from, the ski train, from it's paint scheme to it's grand purpose was completely and utterly Colorado
skinnyshit8888: The equipment is being used on the former Algoma Central Railway, which has been owned by CN since 2001 when they took over the Wisconsin Central.
kjbmtc: Ironically enough, the coaches were actually originally CN cars. They've come home.
i know, i know but i've been riding in that equipment since i was 6 years old - and quite frankly, the ski train leaves behind some might big shoes to fill in colorado so it's sad to see it go. i'd be just as sad if it were in california or maine, etc
The F40's must have been dead-in-train, didn't hear them. I had no idea the Ski Train was up for sale! So, it seems the Canadian built cars have returned to their country of origin.
Haven't you heard, all passengers to ride the blackhawk are to be strapped in with a 6 point harness, and must wear helmets and fire suits at all times LOL, yeah I agree, CN is gonna need to upgrade some track.
There were plans for the company that operates The Rio Grande Scenic Ry in So. Colorado to run a ski train operated by Amtrak crews but the deal fell through after they were unable to pony up high liability insurance and furnish decent rolling stock
was that a dc or ac?

Why has everyone been so sad about the Ski Train leaving? The Ski Train is closer to home than ever now, because the coaches are VIA Tempo cars.

They were CN "Tempo" cars first, then VIA.

Did Via bought the Ski Train?

Nope, it was actually CN.... I believe that they plan on using it on their Algoma Tourist Line.

Cool video! Why is the CN engine leading though?
CSX6000 2 years ago
I think it was because they had some issues with the Ski Train units.

The ES44DC is an oddball on that train. It should have been the three F40's pulling the train in my opinion.
SSW8040 2 years ago 2
I agree, but it sounds like the F40s had some issues.

The Ski Train was not Union Pacific Owned, but owned by phillip Anschutz

I don't like how the train was bouncing after clearing the crossing in the distance near the 4:50 Mark.
Not Guud......'specially if they want to resume BLACKHAWK service to Dubuque someday.
