  • Just a thing: PERFECT!!!!

  • Love your cover, you much better than me but interested that when you picking you leave your little finger resting on guitar cos I do that and been told by quite a few people not to but your playing sounds fine to me so I gonna ignore them from now on!

  • Good god, you're incredible.

  • In Germany we say : Sau Geil Junge. Thats like: fuckin cool Boy.

    :-) very nice

  • Really well done my man. Seriously, I usually despise YouTube covers but this is truely exceptional. Good for you, i hope this gets you laid to boot.

  • Ha ha loved it ! Giggled a bit whenever the scots twang came in - I can't help but sing this with Dylan's accent as well but you've inspired me to try & do a scottish version might try & through in a bit of "the banter" as well - nice one, really enjoyed that!

  • this is my favorite song

  • you r fuckin awesome dude

  • Excellent cover. Keep up the good work, from a fellow Scottish Dylan fan.

  • Absolutely fantastic.

  • Love your Dylan covers! Sent you a request, to your hotmail.co.uk email yesterday. Great Bobby Zimmerman sound guitar, harp, and voice. Look forward to the Pdf?

  • by far the best cover on youtube. good on you my friend. keep on keeping on.

  • Pure brilliance mate, pure brilliance. I've been attempting to play this song correctly for a couple of months now but anyroad nothing like a nice piece of music being played by a fellow Scot. :)

  • very nice, well done!!!!! :)

  • That's awesome, man. I prefer this version to the one he did with Johnny Cash, and your voice lends itself well to it. And actually, if you're in the UK, I suppose the North Country of Northern Minnesota isn't all that different from Scotland and Northern England...

  • @NorthWriter

Thanks for your comment. Although I am a fan of both men, in my opinion there is not a cover on YouTube that is not better than the Dylan /Cash version. It is embarrassingly bad.

As for the Minnesota comparison, in Scotland we've just come through our coldest December since records began, despite global warming, so this year at least there will be similarities.

    Cheers.

    best, dylanizer

  • Very good job man. Keep on picking !

  • this is fucking amazing

  • Yes man! Thats an awesome cover you did there. Quiet close to dylan but thats something not easy to achive. Its one if my favorite songs by bob and i enjoy listen to your recording. Good stuff!!!

  • again good job!!!

    cheer benjamin

  • This really is lovely. Listening to your channel makes me want to buy all of Dylan's albums. I didn't even realize that you were Scottish until I listened to your Drake cover; very well done on capturing Dylan's accent, even if I say so from a very humble opinion!

Scarbourough Fair is one of my favorite folk songs; I love this take on that story.

Thanks again for the wonderful covers and music.

  • very well done!

  • You played that better than Dylan..

  • @HomebrandMusic01 People probably cry Judas at this point (ironically), but I'm actually inclined to agree.

  • this is a really cool cover. I have a video of me covering this song check it out if you like :)

  • fretkillr?

  • nice

  • young man you play and sing beautiful.

  • Amazing. Simply awesome.

  • Awsome.

I would like to play this song.

  • Hey man, what key is your harp in?

  • It's G.

  • LOVE Dylan and love your cover man! Awesome

  • Duly appreciate your sharing this John! Its done very well and faithfully to the recording but it also has your own expression fuzed in there. Nice work. thanks for sharing with us all!

  • great job man !!!

  • Awsome fingerpicking. Congrats.

  • i love your approach here. making this song sound as classic as it is. i hear it's dylan's favorite tune he ever recorded. this tune is so awesome.

  • That was really good.

  • Very, very nice my friend. Nice tone from that Yamaha as well, they make nice stuff. I Hope you don't mind if I post my cover of this as a response, see what you think (also on a vintage 80's Yamaha). 5*

  • Excellent song, sounds pretty much like the other song 'Boots Of Spanish Leather' that you did aswell. You should get a record deal.

  • Excellent cover , great voice and picking

  • i thought it would be great to do a cover for that song, but when i saw u, i think i will stick to the shadows ;)

  • Excellent!

  • Excellent picking and singing. Would love to see a face with this material.

  • Hey awesome job man, best cover i've heard, almost like dylan. By the way you should make a video of how to play the song, many people I know, myself included, have difficulty learning this song and you help would be much appreciated. thanks!

  • First of all, you nailed my favrite Dylan song, I have to give you all sorts of props for that. That said, I've been trying to pick up your picking pattern but the chord after 024030, could u just wrtie in the patern your workin with, it would help emensly

  • sweet as man, nailed it

    !

  • is that first chord a b minor

  • No, I'm not sure what you'd call it. EADGBE

    024030

  • What can I say John - absolutely brilliant.

  • what key was your harmonica in? Wonderful by the way!

  • Cheers,

    Key of G

  • For the sake of a bit of harmonica intro I guess. I've played this song so long I never seem to play it exactly the same way twice.

  • Glad you liked it birving2007.

  • great job nice pickin you ought to be proud of that.

  • Cheers j30hnny.

  • hey brother what is your finger position on that open chord, the first chord in the song i know it 2fret A string 4fret D string(?3fret B string?)(4high e?)...thanks...

  • EADGBE

    024030

    Just as you play it.

You can make it simpler if you like, by leaving the A string open and not using it. I like to alternate the bass strings E D A D because I think it sounds better, but I don't think it makes a lot of differance

    Hope this helps.

    Jonn.

  • great cover men

  • Thanks MKZtheProphet

  • nice picking! at first sight I thought it was me! I hold the pinky like that an my gitar is similar (but cheaper). I think the yamahas are pretty good value, dont you agree?

  • I taught myself to play and it seemed natural to anchor your pinky to the soundboard. I find that you can get more strength into you picking.

I bought this guitar after playing a friends 20 year old (at the time) Yamaha. I tried to get him to sell me it. He wasn't for it at all. HIs is still one of the best sounding guitars I've ever played.

  • I agree, keeping the hand steady is always a problem, resting it on the pinky comes rather naturally.

  • tres bon ...

  • merci beaucoup.

  • Great song cover and guitar playing

  • I really like that song. You did it verry well with both your guitar-harmonica and voice. That one is now on my favorite and will help me to learn it later. Bravo *****

    Steeve

  • Great cover. Nice to hear the harmoica in there too.

  • excellent! you're fingers are flying.

  • Played in G with a G harmonica.

  • What guitar is that??, it has a great tone.

  • It's a Yamaha LD10E I bought it in 1990 for around £600 and haven't been able to find anything any better without forking out £2000 now.

    Jonn.
