Don't really agree with you on that, I was actually there and he pulled off an amazing set. Just as he totally does his own thing when producing. He also has a really different way of djing.
The music he spins and makes is just really raw. And using the roll effect like that: just see it like distortion on a guitar.
mentheman my man there.. if people don't understand this shit, well too bad for them.. It's all about good noise, and oizo killed it that night. I can't agree with the effect remark either, as he didn't use it as much troughout the whole set as in this sample (as far as my memory goes ;-), nor did it affect the overal musical atmophere.
