This means that it was getting hit with solar radiation and now it's not. I'm sure it has to do with the measurement device's capabilities.

For everyone consentrating on the magnetic field, you should be thinking more about the solar wind. It is the solar wind that pushes the field out like a wind sock or flag. To have the field suddenly go limp like this means the solar wind just died down extremely to a light breeze.This sort of drop in field push does not seem normal, however I am no solar expert. I would suggest looking more at what had recently happened on the sun rather than looking at the field.

wow I was wondering at first why you didn't have any info on what the odd thing was, then suddenly saw the field go weird and could see exactly what was odd. If this is more than sensor glitch or software glitch, then it is troubling. That kind of field change and sudden lack of push from the solar wind does not look good at all.

It honestly looks like the solar wind went from gale speed to stand still. Like a flag suddenly hanging limp.

Never seen it like that before, is the magnetosphere pointing down towards something? Is down south, in this simulation? Dont know how to interpret it, other then the first thing that comes to mind, its pointing down towards something that has a huge magnetic field... This will be interesting to follow... indeed...

Strangely enough, there was a post on GLP (I know, they are doom-tards) about compass readings jumping around durring this time. I was unable to duplicate at home, as my compass is working like always. I've heard other researchers talk about how when a magnetic poleshift takes place, the magneto sphere doesn't collapse, but becomes "tangled" and bouncing around. Maybe thats what we are seeing?

@Gollumz, this means the poles flip from one hemisphere to the other, is known as a reversal. on 2/7/10 and 1/30/10 the south pole was missing, i dont know for how long, and the experts did not know where it went.
