thank you. I didn't realize that Trevor passed away! It seems like so many of them from the series passed away in close succession with another..what is that? 4 over the past 2 years? I absolutely adored this show. thanks for the upload
Hi TheLeafover, Thanks for this. I also had no idea Mr. Bannister (aka Lucas) was gone until I saw this. He was indeed a comic genius, who was always able to look shocked by his own belligerence :-)
I just learned the news some 7 months later. So sad. I truly admired him. Seeing the picture of Trevor at older age (last pic in tribute) alerted me to how I have personally grown older and how time wickedly slips away...
I agree. Trevor Bannister was hilarious. My only regret with the show was that he and Miss Brahms never struck up a relationship. They would have been quite a couple.
@enterprise160 The only thing is that if they got together it would not be as funny. It would have been nice though. Shows like "served" are not made any more.
I agree, the two characters had great chemistry as friends, who liked to occasionally take jabs at each other. It was a wonderful show. I think most of its actors are gone now.
On our PBS station there was a special called 'Behind the Britcom: From Stage to Screen'. It was about how several BBC comedy shows were created. They inteviewed several writers, producers and stars of old British sitcoms. They interviewed Trevor, Frank Thornton and Jeremy Croft from AYBS. Only 2 days after that came the notice that he passed away. To me, there was always something sad about him. May he rest in peace in God's favor.
I just discovered this my accident - how sad...Are You Being Served was one of the funniest shows I ever saw - maybe because it was 'British" humor. In any case we don't see comedies like this anymore...a touch risque or bawdy but good clean fun. Rest In Peace Mr. Bannister.
@Swimboy2 Same here, I was doing a pledge shift at the local public TV station and just kind of browsing the station's monthly magazine when I saw a small article about it. I was shocked! I had no idea and I usually keep up with those kind of things.
AYBS was my first experience with Britcoms and I have loved them ever since.
RIP Trevor...you will forever be "Mr. Lucas" to me. The world just got a little less funny. :(
I loved this cast like family. Would watch every weekend on PBS and could watch endless reruns. Mr Peacock is on Summer Wine and that is another good show.
I've always loved Are You Being Served? ever since I was little. That show had real magic too. I can't say who my fav. because they all are. I had always wanted to meet ether Trever, Molly or John just to say thanks so much for the laughs they brought. The whole cast got me through some very hard times. R.I.P. to Trever and the rest of our fallen cast.
I guess what makes it sad for us is that they really made our lives better. The music is great. There is nothing wrong with being sad for loosing them. They will always live in our memories. May they all rest in peace. Are you being served?
@firechick66 Well Frank and Mr Rumbold (Nicholas smith ) are the only ones remaining . Isn't it strange that all the floor staff of Grace Brothers went away so quickly after John Inman went ? Cant believe that Trever and Molly had went to Wendy's funeral , Molly died after four months and now just after two years Trevor left us. Lets hope that Capt.Peacock and Mr. Rumbold stay with us and enjoy good health for a long-long time.
@Galavya41 --that is strange how they all passed so fast after John Inman died I agree..I agree with you I hope the 2 that are left stay with us and enjoy good health too :-)
my favourite actor Daniel Crossley is just like Trevor Bannister. Same facial expresions, cheeky lovable personality. I loved Trevor as Mr Lucas. So cheeky and fun to watch x
@TheLeaflover It is a sad song, true, but when I think about all these folks from this show and they've mostly all have passed on, I get sad too. The lyrics from the Smiths' song "Cemetry Gates" keeps running through my head in reference to them: "So we go inside and gravely read the stones. All those people all those lives, where are they now? With loves and hates and passions just like mine, they were born and then they lived and then they died. Seems so unfair, how I want to cry..."
Thank you for posting this Ive just found out he was a great brillant man i really hope he is in a good plcace he will be missed by so many people RIP
Thanks for this- lovely tribute. Trevor Bannister was such an amazing actor and a lovely man, I remember writing to him when I was younger and being thrilled when he replied. He was my favourite character on AYBS, he'll be sorely missed.
I am a little freaked out as only last week I decided to re-watch my are you being served box set and now ive found he's died so ime a little freaked out by that. He was totally my favourite in are you being served and I always found him very interesting and inspiring to watch. He was too young to die and I still feel he had many more acting years in him. He would never of retired. R.I.P Trevor. You will be so greatly missed.
I thought that he was very handsome! THank you for the tribute!

That's a nice tribute you made, but isn't this song just a bit too dark and sad? Almost a song I would have chosen for a film about Armageddon. Heh.
