  • ranger bands. free,

  • Yeah cannonball if you have the ranger bands to spare.

  • why not just use large cotton balls and vaseline? it will be alot lighter to carry, cheaper and will do the same thing.

  • johnboyrebel27

You can use cotton balls and vaseline.

Duraflame log's are just cheaper to buy than those 6 pack's of stick's that places like Walmart and Kmart are selling to get campfires started in wet weather. One Duraflame log will last you for several year's if you don't camp out alot during wet weather. And you can put a chunk or stick of Duraflame out and relight it again and again just like char cloth.

  • Great Tips 73mensailedoff, very useful 5/5

  • Thank's Bill glad you like it.

  • We used to pour sawdust and wax into cardboard egg cartons.

Great idea to just break up a Duraflame!

    Bill

  • Yeah I remember making egg cartons like that back when I was in the cub scout's. They work great for starting campfires in wet weather also.

I like the Duraflame log's because you can cut them into stick's or break them into pieces. And there way cheaper than the 6 pack of stick's they sell at places like Walmart.

And just like char cloth you can put the Duraflame out and relight again.

  • Nice tip. I never thought about shaving off pieces of those logs. I have a couple of the small ones in my truck camping kit and I think I will cut down one of them.

    Thanks.
