  • The drummer of two suns in the sunset by pink floyd and pros and cons of hitch hiking by roger waters, he makes me crazy with his hit hat and snare.

  • My favorite drummer period. His playing on the Roger Waters Pro and Cons tour was incredible as he always is.

  • I LOVE him!

  • Such a mysterious character.... What a great drummer, great personality

  • Interesting ....t hanks

  • My main man: Andy Newmark. A great, great drummer and person!

  • Really totally cool to see this. I knew Andy WAY (1967) back in the day in the Bermuda Islands. He has also played with Judy Tzuke and Paul Muggleton.

  • Newmark's drumming on John Lennon's "Double Fantasy" is absolutely amazing. His technique and sensibility is so unique.

  • his work on Sly's Fresh LP is 'the shit' as they say.... wicked playin..

  • Had the privilege of meeting Andy and having a chat with him a year ago. My favourite drummer and a nice man who was generous in his time and answers.

Just Like Starting Over is one of the greatest triplet feels of all time.

I hope to meet him again one day.

  • I became aware of andy from his drum work with Carly Simon...outstanding!

  • nice to see andy again after all these years...met him in 1984 on the roger waters "pros / cons" tour because my cousin was in the band ..I had many conversations backstage with him and drumming.what a great guy to talk to, very professional and one kick ass drummer !..also, it doesnt note this in the sidebar, but andy was also house drummer on the david brenner show out of new york years back too....i also see tony omalleys name here...so if i ever get to faversham tony..ill stop and have one

  • Andy is a legend!

  • THE MAN!

  • maybe missed it for all the all stars but no see joe walsh listed in the blue video info box

mr newmark played in joe's monster band that released the ' you cant argue w/ a sick mind ' live disc

two drummer set up w/ the great joe vitale in the other seat

and it is one of the very best r-n-r live sets ever

& i can say proudly too i saw a.n. up close playing w/ paul carrack & nick lowe

and man o man he is a monster rhythm stick master

but we all knew that right?

  • Many thanks for that info coyotedrunkoncognac - details updated :)

  • Tony, please send Andy my warm hello - thanks, you guys are looking incredible. Cheers, Mary Henry

  • the live roxy record is awesome and hes featured plus Avalon is a classic. i actually thought he was the original drummer becuase we played out those 2 records by 1985. a very sophisticated drummer but a really down to earth guy.

  • "A humble living" - he's also a very humble Yamaha endorsee - only one kit off them in the last 20 years!!!

  • Would that be a Recording Custom kit?

  • Yes, that's right.

  • yup ... the recording customs in natural birch ...i have the same set .... bought them new in 1984 for $1700.00 ... a lot of money for a drumset in those days ... I remember seeing Andy in Modern Drummer with his Yamaha kit ... 4 piece , his cymbals way up high ... man he looked cool .... listening to him on the Fresh record as I write this .... totally bad ass

  • What a gem of a clip, unbelievable to have AN living in England!

  • He did keep the interview moving, but it would have been better had he allowed Andy to get into a few more details - particularly in regard to Sly Stone and John Lennon. You don't just clip people off when they're on a roll...you never get past first base (or would that be 15 love here).

  • For some reason I didn't know he was an American

  • his playing from roxy music amazing

  • This is the man who did the drumming on "Fresh"! The best sly album no doubt, easily in the top 100 LP's of all time. This guy is like a machine, a watch. MUCH RESPECT! Truly one of the greatest of all time. A humble man who could humble any modern drummer.

  • Fresh is among the best 10 LPs ever made, I'd say

  • Hes my cousin

  • Known the guy for over 20 years... still as talented and ridiculous as ever. Yeah Andy, you've had a 'good run.' But I'd like to see you on the court with Roger...

  • Nice bloke,I was his postman a few years ago and he always used to have a chat ...Even got me a couple of CD's.

  • The man himslf.

  • Great little insight to a legend.
