I love this alternate nostril breathing.....its one of my many favourites.....it really helps to calm the whole body, mind spirit.(: Thanks for sharing this video..Namaste
Thanks for posting this, I have a question regarding the time of the "alternating nostril breathing". Some say it's 2-8-4 ratio, but in this video (witch I don't understand the words) it seems that "IT IS the same rhythm of time when you "breath in" and the one "breathing out"... can someone "elaborate on this"?
Yoga is secular ! He is just passionate about his countrymen enjoying good physical , mental and spiritual health through Yoga. He has a vision to of a strong India and strong Indians and wants to restore the lost glory of our country. I think all that if all Indians had that kind of passion , we would be a much better people and country.
I don't think yoga is secular. How can something that was born out of a tradition of mysticism and deep spirituality become something secular? Sure, some of the practices of yoga have been secularized simply for health benefits, but the word 'yoga' itself implies a direct experience, or union, between the Self, atman, and the Supreme, Paramatman.
Yoga = union, the mystic discipline that forms the core of Hindu spirituality.
No way can you say yoga, at its core, is secular. It's spiritual.
But Spirituality is secular too. It can't be clubbed with narrow definition of religion. It is Universal. The sound of "Om" is the sound of Cosmos. For an atheist , spirituality is nothing but being one with nature and Universe.
Please say something about " precursor to meditation". How does it help in meditation and in what manner should meditation follow anulom -vilom pranayam?
Any form of pranayama is excellent preparatoy exercise for meditation. Acharya Patanjali says in his first aphorism of the Yog Sutra "Yogash chitta vrutti nirodhaha" meaning "Our goal of yoga is to achieve the complete cessation of thought."
In the tradition of the Yog Sutra, breath is directly linked to thought. If the breath is disciplined, so can the activities of the 'antahkaran', or the four faculties of the mind.
Pranayama is therefore an excellent technique to bring the mind to stillness.
Yes follow religiously it works

Lol! Since when did someone's voice start to smell? Useless comment.
Come out of your prejudices and fanatic mindset that you seem to have.
Between, its 'fanaticism' and not 'fanatism' that you meant. Lol dumb!!

Very nice, thank you for posting this.
Anulom-Vilom pranayama is an incredible precursor to meditation. Yoga is a fantastic tradition that can be applied across a multi-faith spectrum.
