Thank You so much for all your information. I love you're videos, they're very insightful and are very helpful for me as a future educator. I wish we had teachers that would give us insight and information (like the one you give) that will help us in the field. You've been really helpful. I can't thank you enough.
I'm sorry to hear that, but I'm glad that you've come to realize this & can build on it. Best wishes, if there is anything I can do to help just messange me!
Great video. So many people out there in the educational systems don't realize the effects of low self-esteem during childhood, the time when our reality constructs are building and coming together to define who we are. Some people figure its just a "phase".
I know from personal experience - I had a major self esteem issue as a child - I ended up taking everything said to me directly to heart, assuming that people didn't like me right off the bat... And some of that still lingers with me.
Very true! How could we ever expect children to become productive members of society when we exclude them or leave the impression that they are incable of this? I'm glad that you've taken the strength to recognize the the effects of low self-esteem and change them. It's a hard thing to do, and takes a lot of insight. Best Wishes!
Don't forget accomplishment..you touch on it somewhat in allowing children to DO things even if they aren't exactly right or well-done. Kids need to DO to feel good about themselves. It is too easy to fall into the rut of not doing things, and then the self-esteem spirals downward. PJ2
Exactly! We need to give children a chance to participate in the world. Who cares if the cristmas tree orniments aren't exactly even or if dinner is a little too well done, getting a chance to DO it does so much more good.
Great video, I like how concise you are, articulate and precise. It is difficult to raise a child without a disorder to have a good self-image, but throw in a mentall ilness and it is much more difficult.
alot of good points,.. i feel it is most iportaint to encourage a child to be who they are , and reinforce that how eer diffrent they may be from next door whoever,.. encourage the guitar playign or the art or whatever ,.. let them explore who they are and give them the freedom to grow in that way.
I couldn't agree with you more. Authentecy is ESSENTIAL to mental health, genuine relationships, understanding, meaning, freethought, confidence, and almost any other meaningful part of life--sadly it is also becoming a scarce one.
