  • So agree with Aerlingus18. Adulation sucks

  • the people that are obsessed with andrew haven't copped on to the lyrics in Flash Delirium : "MASS ADULATION IS NOT SO FUNNY"......just had to put it out there you creepy creepy people

  • any1 know what is the 12 strings guitar that james is using here?

  • dat boy good

  • Who knew Andrew was so good at lead guitar

  • Delicious Crab..

  • Something is terribly wrong with you. James is the monkey guy.

  • I feel bad for the ones who only know "kids", "electric feel" and "time to pretend"... It reminds me of me 1 and a half year ago... Glad I made some search back then now its my fav band! and awww Andrew is like a cookie you just wanna grab and eat! lmao i'm such a creep

  • i'm glad to have known MGMT, the best of our lame generation.

  • I love that line..."if you're conscious you must be depressed" . Brilliant song.

  • 10:07 is that a smile?

  • im listen this in my pc and wowww the vid its epic!!

  • 11:39 VANWYNGASM! Damn Andrew can play that giutar <3

  • 1:27 shortcut to song

  • @zurkazirka thanks xD

  • Oh marianne pass me the joint

  • lol at andrew humping his guitar

  • EPIC!

  • sweet, sweet genius

  • haaaaa this is my kind of music

  • "Alright"

  • I cry everytime I listen to this..

  • These guys are awesome.. One of the better bands of this decade!

  • 12:00

    i died of happiness

  • this is my favorite mgmt song

  • Why are they so fucking cool?

  • Oh gosh. Ever hear of Arthur Lee and LOVE? Sorry Arthur is not here now, to hear this.

    he would totally dig it.

  • 11:15 beautiful :)

  • Greatest song ever written.

  • TOO MANY COCONUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 240p, we meet again.

  • @FrostLagoon aways

  • It's a shame this is 240p. Can barely hear the music. Such horrible quality. I don't understand, there are other videos from the same set that are better quality. Someone dropped the ball.

  • That introduction, or something like it, should be the first track on the next album. :D

  • i'm peaking.

  • ya know?

  • "u decide to make a fire and cook it" i love it! <3

  • im laughing so hard hahahahahhahahaha the beginning is gold

  • Cant think of a better live band than MGMT. These guys are seriously underrated.

  • @rcroxyosox1 *cough* red hot chili peppers

  • @aerlingus18 I'll give the entertainment win to chili peppers with the jumping around and all, but mgmt still sounds better live

  • I feel like i could go on few hour long car trip through the mountains, play this song, and have it play only once during the duration of my trip

  • @liveslowlivesimple nowhere in his comment did he say mgmt's music can only be appreciated while high. he didnt say one needs to be high to appreciate things. you inferenced all that from a couple sentences he wrote.

  • Beautiful musicians.

  • What 12 string guitar is that one?

  • amazing. A lot of those vocal notes are EXTREMELY hard to hit, and the guys nailed them perfectly. I give a lot of props to MGMT on this, I didnt think it would sound that good live. I guess im just used to mediocre bands who sound nothing like their studio versions. Anyways, amazing song, and i have a new found respect for MGMT for absolutely nailing this song live.

  • LMAO the description totally went over the show's host's head. "...Alright..."

  • Best description music ever.

  • I love Andrew's troll intro!

  • this music is just plain beautiful

  • did anyone else realize that MGMT converted james from a metal rocker to the psychedelic hippy that he is now over the course of Congratulations?

  • @mustachecashstache1 yea, It's pretty crazy, he used to wear Slayer shirts all the time.

  • @mustachecashstache1 who is james?

  • He sounds like Billy Corgan at "I hope I die before I get sold"

  • You know, this album (and this song especially) not only take psychedelia to a whole new level, but instead represent a paradigm shift in music that we have not seen since the introduction of Rap. Alongside bands such as The Aliens (compare this to "Bobby's Song" off of their newest album Luna) and you begin to see a new vision, a new voice, of a newly empowered generation.

  • I MISS WHEN KCRW VIDS WERE MGMT AND NOT THESE NEW, UNKNOWN ARTIST!!!

  • That's just amazing. Such a feeling they've put into this song.

  • I wonder if MGMT knows what they've done for the stoner community. Where I'm from this song is the anthem for smoking/tripping. This is such a beautiful experience of a song.

  • @crazyparkour017 these kinds of comments make me sick because mgmt's music is amazing. it doesnt need to be listened to while high to be appreciated. in fact, if you need to be high to appreciate anything, you have issues. so lets rephrase that sentence. "i wonder if mgmt knows what theyve done for the music community. where im from, this song is the anthem of love and psychedelia."

  • @liveslowlivesimple I couldn't agree with you more. There's a comment like that on pretty much EVERY SINGLE MGMT related video there is. The fact that there are people who think it is not possible to just be nonchalant and calm without being high is kind of depressing IMO.

"I don't think it has to involve drugs. Drugs are a nice shortcut for realizing things that you would otherwise realize on your own anyways." - Andrew and Beno on psychedelic/their own music

  • @alovelyanon it is truly rare and refreshing to see someone who shares the same views as me on this topic. you are lovely, indeed

  • @crazyparkour017 It's pretty superficial if you only appreciate this because it sounded pretty while you were smoking pot. You got it wrong.

  • Beatles territory...

  • genious!

  • that was so incredibly brilliant, that solo at the end...my god

  • when I heard this the first time I came a little

  • wish that guitar solo at the end was in the album..oh well incredible song anyway cant wait for their third album "MGMT"!!!!!!!!

  • Hands down their best song. Technically it's brilliant, and it just sounds plain fucking incredible.

If you want to simulate surfing take a couple bong hits and listen to this song.

  • 12:11 Andrew is fucking jamming.

  • @Goobzie I know.. He's so cute.

  • Aren'tcha glad you stayed 'till the end?

  • One of the top bands in the world period

  • trippin'

  • I LOVE MGMT!

  • Screw weed, just listen to MGMT!

  • the live version sounds great must admit

  • I think that this is the best song I've heard in my life, it's like much feelings and I think this is the best mgmt song

  • because good music isn't something you like instantly. it has to have tension that grows on you. pop songs are so shitty because they're so catchy. something you like that quickly will just as quickly be despised later

  • @henryzthatsme Amen!

  • I guess this is there Abbey Road medley bit ......I think it works good. I too, like the 7:28 mark transition into........"Hope I die before I get old" repeats.

I guess my only complaint I have of this band........wish they were a tad bit more Guitar Oriented.

  • Ladies and Gentlemen .. The new Radiohead. .. From the Beatles to Pink Floyd to Radiohead and now. MGMT. . or at least.. I really hope. Cause this album was soo good and expect something special to come. What an ending to this song!

  • @BehindthePlay No, they're not the new Radiohead. Fortunately. Save In Rainbows Radiohead hasn't made any non-boring album since 2001.

  • I remember first listening to this song, and then being sent into a psychedelic mind-numbing trance at 7:28. I shat brix.

  • When they played this song live, I cried when he said I'd rather die before I get sold. Im not the kinda person to cry in public but I was overwhelmed by the beauty in this song..

  • the clearly defined line between genius and insanity

  • amazin

  • 240p? really? this song deserves more...

  • 07:28 to 09:41 for me is the best moment in the song!!!!!!

  • in my opinion the album Congratulations takes psychedelia to a new level, in a very real way

  • @420dopethrone listen to "maudlin of the Well," this really isnt psychedelic

  • @MrDarcyman dude, even qotsa gets some psychedelic thing. Go listen to some Jefferson Airplane and The Doors and then get back right here and listen again to this song.

  • @MrDarcyman this really is psychedelic actually! lol

  • what is going on

  • Love this.

  • I love how Andrew moves all around and gets really into it when he plays guitar :)

  • best song so far by MGMT.

  • I LOVE Congratulations!!

  • The only thing the radio host had to say to the description of this song was "...okay!" That's what makes this band so priceless. They just blow people's minds. (Including my own)

  • best album by MGMT. i love it! its a beautiful album, way better than oractular spectacular

  • To the bobble heads that don't like this.

Go back to your Maroon 5 and Justin Bieber.

The true talent of this band emerges, and the true range of their musical abilities, that hearken to Atom Heart Mother and Meddle -era Pink Floyd.

  • amo esta cancion

  • i don't know about original but this album is special. lyrics, melodies, concept, it's all there. very deep and very inspiring.

  • this music is so fucking original i love it. i love Andrew <3

  • 4 people disliked this video

  • 6:22 is always my favorite part of the song. That and the chords in the beginning.

  • I loved the beginning and I kept laughing. xD

Description music and a really tasty crab and James' monkey sound :D

  • 4 people sould be impaled by not liking the Siberian Breaks...

  • WOW! The ending is amazing! I feel like I'm eating chocolate on the beach while surfing with Andrew. Why didn't they do the ending like this on the album?

  • 240p WTF

  • "...so this is going to be epic..."

  • god andrew is gettin it at the end

  • I love this song. Most people can't really make it through the whole song because it's so long. I actually listen to the whole song, then replay it :)

I thought Congratulations was a great album as soon as I heard it. I instantly loved all the songs except Brian Eno and Siberian Breaks. They took a while to stick, but once they did, I loved them. Especially this song. It's like going on a journey <3

  • i cant stop coming back to this song.

  • 7.32

  • The beginning could make anyone fall in love with a guitar. The chords are amazing.

  • @LilBompie17 My thoughts exactly. It's beautiful <3

  • brilliant song. it really is.

  • 2 people didn't eat the crab

  • 7:30 is my favorite part, so melancholic

  • why are people still filming in SD???? SOUNDS GREAT...looks like shite!!

  • whenever i listen to some of their songs, i'm reminded of the 60s. weird.

  • @flzgn I agree. If you listen to Of Moons Birds and Monsters (in my opinion at least) you can definitely hear a jimi hendrix type influence.

  • @flzgn thats a good thing. me too.

  • @flzgn They draw from a lot of different genres; and brilliantly at that.

  • @flzgn Word. That's what makes me claim "Congratulations" as one of the best albums I've heard the last 10 years. Maybe even my entire life.

  • Love the ending in this version, like, blissed out, man...

  • Andrew has so much fucking SOUL!!! I love this band.....

  • Comment removed

  • is he like jesus or something?? im getting that kind of vibe.

  • 11:50 - 12:35 andrew looks so into his guitar :) I love it

  • Best outro ever. Always reminds me of Earthbound.

  • I am so happy I bought their Congradulation album, an album worth listening from begining to the end.

    Free Marc Emery

  • siberian breaks--- the song that is actually three songs. mgmt raises my expectations of contemporary music. like, step your shit up. get on their level. hahaha. also, ben's little smile at the end pretty much makes the video.

  • One of the best songs of the decade!!! & it¨s true.

  • it took me a while to get into this song but after i saw them 4 days ago i cant stop listening to this song. so amazing.

  • 11:11 <3

  • andrew+guitar=orgasm

  • oh marianne pass me the joint

  • the first time i listened to Congratulations i must admit it disappointed me. Not really disappointed, i was just expecting something different. I decided to give it a second listen and a third and then i started to realize how good it actually is. If you think that album is a failure it's just because you haven't listened to it properly, because no way this is a failure but a hope for the music.

    Keep it weird MGMT!

  • @rachelthezombie One of the best albums of all time.

  • @rachelthezombie I think what happened with this album is that they started to make music they wanted, instead of trying to make hit-songs like kids, time to pretend and others we know.

  • @rachelthezombie Seriosuly, the same exact thing happened to me!

  • @rachelthezombie

i know exactly what you mean once you realise how good their music is you can really enjoy it ^^

  • @rachelthezombie I definitely feel ya'. I didn't understand it at first, because most bands these days stick to the same style throughout their career. Then I listened more and realized that they are a growing band. I know people may frown at my opinion on this, but if MGMT keeps it up I feel like they could be the Beatles of this generation. I hope they continue to grow on their next cd. I also hope that they stay weird:)

  • @gmikey222 you know it may have happened 20 years ago, but now it's too difficult, for there's such a huge diversity of music generes and so many bands, i don't think there's any opportunity for any non-straight-commercial-headed band to become such a phenomenon as the beatles were

  • @rachelthezombie Time to Pretend was an album for the kids, Congratulations was for the adults. basically

  • @danimal4you there you go, finally someone said it

  • @rachelthezombie sooo, true <3

  • @rachelthezombie same goes to me

  • it's all about the SNAP! at 9:42 !

  • James Richardson. The best adquisition of MGMT.

  • This was 13 minutes and 7 seconds of my life well-spent.

  • greats

  • KICKASS SOLO

  • this makes me feel again.

  • @SteveMAshford when you see who those people are you understand why they said that. Congratulations is a masterpiece, and the timing couldn't be better, it's going to save us from the mainstream crap

  • I know this whole song on guitar i never get tired of playing <3

  • I listen to this every day, and it doesn't get old... sort of like U2... ahead of its time

  • this is fucking splendid

  • i cried while watching this.

  • I'm not a big fan of the band but I have to admit this is one of the best tunes of 2010 for sure...

I think that, for the first time, they actually captured the psychedelic mood perfectly

  • Congratulations is that album that made me listen to MGMT

  • i cant wait until im telling my kids when theyre watching them play this when theyre like 70 about how i used to watch them play this when they were 20 years old just like how my dad tells me about led zeppelin and the beatles being this age when he was younger
