With temps in the 100's and with index, up as high as 105-108 degrees expected, what would you suggest as another date to plant Georgia Collards? and maybe some other fall crops.
this video is great! i live up north near seattle so your adjustments where very helpfull :)
do you think you could do an update on this? im such a noob at gardening, i have no idea what to plant or transplant and when to put things in the garden. thanks for the wonderfull ideas :D
Please watch my video and offer as much advise or tips that you can. I really love your videos and I think you are a Fantastic gardener!! Please leave me a comment.. Thanks
lol, ok I found it ... now I can't post to Jeffs vids.
Kewl, I want me some tabaki ... I enjoy a good cigar once in a while, but I don't want to buy them any more because anything good is crazy expensive, and the stuff is good to have around for wounds and worming and stuff like that.
Wow Ironhead, I didn't think you could get tobacco seeds. Any tips on where to find some? I've wanted to grow some plants for years.
You are a wealth on information, this stuff is very helpful because I'm always wondering exactly when to plant, and my dad farms some too, you are much more help than he is lol.
i am so envious<(i r a badd spellar) of you guys that can grow a garden. i cant wait to retire. i plan on planting an acre of maters, and eating them all my self. most wont even make it to the house .ill just keep a salt shaker outside.unfortunetly the deer around here will not even leave a jalopino plant alone while im gone on the road.
Here in Louisville if you put out warm weather plants tomatoes, corn, peppers etc. before the first saturday in May (Derby day) you're askin for trouble. The last 3 years we had temps in the lower 30's and wet soggy ground til almost mid may. 2 years ago I put in tomatoes the first of june, I didn't get any til August but mine were the only ones not getting blossom end rot because of wet cool weather.
Great planning! Are the days you choose based on phases of the moon? Do potatoes get planted by a different schedule?
Do you grow winter garden down south?
I've got broccoli, chard, onions, leeks, garlic, cauliflower & cabbage growing right now - planted late fall. Most won't be ready to pick until late spring, but the broccoli is starting to head up for me now. Those don't get real big when grown in winter, but I'll still get to eat fresh...
Sounds like a plan! I really envy your growing season, that is real nice. I have never grown tobacco before, I should try that. I don't smoke, but a pipe or cigar on camping trips with the guys and to keep the bears away. I love the smell of dried tobacco in cigar shops. I always go down to Cuban Town in Miami when I am there just to get a few fresh cigars. Your finger looks like you been cleaning the muzzle loader again. That's what my fingers end up looking like.

If I start my plants indoors by Feb. 11th, I'll be harvesting them before I get a chance to put them in the ground :)
A "little" too far north, here :^(
Any hints / instructions for growing tobacca?
I talk to my uncle with know-how, too seldomly.

Have you considered making a video (or did I miss one?) that explains your astrological basis for when to plant?
As a new gardener, I am ignorant of why people utilize moon phases, planetary alignments, and other methods to determine auspicious dates.

Ironhead,
I guess you are planting by a Luna calendar guide. I agree that this is a good method.
